buffalo/niagara wedding vendors & such?

:snky: So… I’m getting married in Niagara Falls in October.
Any recommendations for vendors?

Basically need everything… DJ, photo/video, cake, etc.
I’m driving into town on Saturday and will be there for a few days… we made appointments at some vendors already, but if anyone here is a provider, knows one, or has used one they like (or hate) please let me know!

Oh and the wedding is on a Sunday since it’s Columbus Day Weekend, so I imagine that may add some complexity.

Thanks! :headbang:

(and yes this is my first visit to this site since 12/06/06… I’ll try to be better)

Desert deli for the win. We tasted and priced alot of cake but they are amazing. They have a little seminar for you with like 8 samples of cake. Pricing was also cheaper and we are getting alot more then other places were gonna give us for more money

There’s a WNY message board. My fiance got a ton of info off of it, basically planned our wedding based on that board.

Our wedding planning’s gone really well. Or so I hear. :gotme:

Oh, and if you’re just looking now your options are basically going to be limited to whoever’s available. Our vendors:

Cake - Muscoreil’s
DJ - Signature Entertainment
Photo - Fisher Creative Image
Flowers - I have no idea. Some gay dude on Elmwood I think.
Tux’s - Marty’s on Main in Williamsville
Video - Anton Video Film
Transportation - Buffalo Trolley

So far we have:

Ceremony & Reception: Niagara Falls Country Club (I just couldn’t get over the name ‘Beaver Island’
Dress: Kleinfelds (high-end place in manhattan)
Bridesmaids: Anne Taylor Celebrations
Tux: None, but I’ll be buying it
Groomsmen: None, but will be renting. Probably a chain for easy access like Mens Wearhouse.
Rings: none, but planning to buy in Niagara Falls/Buffalo
The rest is up in the air.

thanks for the info!

Anyone know where I can rent/borrow/steal a really spectacular limo? I’m not talking stretch hummer or a beat up 1940s rolls royce, but something along the antique/classic line in super condition.
A little pointless since the ceremony and reception are in the same place, but I could use it to get there…

Are you taking the wedding party pictures in the same location as the ceremony/reception? Because if you are not (and there are some nice places to take wedding pictures) a limo might be something you want to really plan.

here is what we got done:

Photography: Expressions Studio - The price is about what we expected and they put together a fantastic album as well as take great pictures.

Cake: Tried several places but ended up with Ohlson’s as suggested here. We designed our own and eventually they were accommodating and we reached a compromise. Muscorelli’s requires 1 year notice and the others did not have a consistent product (taste and look good). Dessert Deli was great but maybe too sweet, a little too expensive, and impossible to get an appointment with due to all the Easter baking they were doing.

Ceremony/Reception: Niagara Falls Country Club - put in our menu, etc. Also got an ice sculpture because in the grand scheme, it seemed cheap.

Florist: All set there. Can’t remember the name of the place just now. Didn’t go overboard as the country club was able to help us out with centerpieces. Still expensive overall though, especially since flowers die.

Still no invitations. We looked at party city a while ago; will probably check things out online.
Still no tux for me or groomsmen… will check out Mens Wearhouse.
Still no rings. Checked out some places and got ideas but didn’t buy anything since we have plenty of time apparently.
Still haven’t decided on a hotel for me/bridal party. Leaning towards Crowne Plaza since it’s cheaper than the seneca niagara casino but is still across the street.
Still no chair covers. Will check out Gotcha Covered in canada for their huge selection as well as the one mentioned here (all seasons)
Limo: Probably not, but would get one if it was awesome.
Still no entertainment. Met with a DJ but wasn’t too impressed.
Not sure if we want a wedding video yet.

Thanks again!

Limo’s are played out.

All my fiance’s jewelry comes from Andrews. Their prices are competitive, and their customer service >>*. Any time we’ve ever had a problem with anything we just stop by and tell them what the deal is and they take care of it. No paperwork, no questions asked. “Oh you broke the chain and lost the chain and have no proof that it came from here? No prob. Here’s a new one.” “You whacked your hand and chipped the blue topaz stone and it fell out of the setting? We won’t be able to safely re-secure the stone again. No problem though. We’ll just order you a whole new ring.”

When I was getting engaged it was Christmas time and they were swamped. I was getting a stone set in a new band, and was trying to plan it for the same time I was giving her a puppy for Christmas. I planned it poorly and mentioned what I was doing and that the puppy was getting picked up in 2 days but said I understood that they were busy and it was going to take them 2 weeks to set the ring. They called me the next day and told me it was done and I could come get it.
