Depends on your typical clientele.
If you are talking your average not so hard working citizen, play on that. (Bang for you Buck Estate Planning) It’s right out there with your intentions, simple, and for the lazy people, it’s at the top of the list in the phone book (I’m guessing not too many of your clients have iPads or a Facebook account)
If you are dealing with people that kinda full of themselves you have to cater to that. “whateveryourlastnameis Estate Planning” in some decorative script on your business card, that came out of a 14K gold business card holder.
You have to really think about your average customer, and what type of person they are. Suit and tie? Bowling Jacket? Carhart and boots? Golf shirt and too much gold jewlery? Where do those people hang out? What appeals to them? Is it Walmart’s flourecent sign glow? Things that relate to their “younger days”. Find that and go with it.

Good points, I dont want it to sound discounted with bang for buck (ex) because, no offense, I make my money based on the amount of assets I protect. So the 50k liquid networth clients take up a TON of my time, and may only yield me $200 dollars. When I do bang for buck type advertising, I get the bottom of the barrel clients that tend to suck the life out of me. However, for the “nursing home” niche that most of my clients fit in and seek me out, they are 200k cash/investment assets - 1.5 million (could be as high as 10 million depending on the structure of their assets/ira’s/if they have multiple homes/etc) These are who I want to attract, however, they dont fit the mold of hoity toity stuck up people either, typically hard working families from the NE who moved to florida to retire… they’re typically living off 2-3k a month and not touching their savings… just the husband had a stroke and the wife cant take care of him. With our planning, we get them an additional ~2k tax free from the VA in monthly income, up to ~1300 from the state, and then we can even help them negotiate their rates with the homes… all while protecting the principal of their life savings.
To be honest the majority of my clients are all very down to earth, caring, loving people… (hell I get invited for home made dinners atleast once a week from them… haha) They’re just worried that when the medical bills reach 5k a month they’ll spend down everything and be broke. So they panic and look for assistance… that is if they’re planners. Otherwise they spend down all their assets and then qualify on their own.
thoughts?
you would need to have a really terrible stache

im confused, this is the first post ive made in this thread
Willybeen, based upon what you said, the most straightforward name for your business would be (your name) Financial planning. Stupid as it sounds, it shows you have nothing to hide. It’s not who ownes the company, who are you dealing with, etc. it’s all out there already. Unless your Name is a dificult one, then you might have to tweak it alittle. My biggest hurdle in sales is my difficult to pronounce name. Customers remember me, but can’t remember it right “it’s that different name, with the ‘X’”

Meant to say andy, but you must have been on my mind. woops.

Xander, definitely a valid point, the issue with having FINANCIAL PLANNING in the name is that most of my marketing is by seminars, and when advertised as a financial planning firm, attendance is typically really low because people think I’m trying to sell them something (even when it says educational event only)
Thanks for the feedback

The first one is the only one that would lead someone to what you do, IMO. Other ones sound like things you don’t do or don’t like to do from your earlier descriptions.
