or should we call it Forerunner…

cliffs:

  • Halo 3 isn’t currently called Halo 3. In fact, it doesn’t even have halo in the name - it is called Forerunner
  • It will include HUGE environments.
  • It will be somewhat open - i.e. A mission where you have to go invade/destroy an armory will determine how much weaponry you have for the next mission and how much the opposing forces will have.
  • Will have a definite mission structure - but still be somewhat open.
  • 4 Player Co-Op
  • A gameinformer source (not named) HAS SEEN THE GAME IN ACTION. He also explains that the reason Bungie says there is no Halo 3 is because it will most likely be called “Forerunner”

:headbang:

sweeeet. i wonder if the title forerunner implies that it’s a prequel…

edit: oh and ib4jdmr2

i cant wait for it to come out!!! halo is the greatest game ever created i dont care what name its called in the future

yesssss can’t wait!

4 Player Co-Op!! whooo

 to 4 player co-op. That’s crazy.

good info!

sweet jesus

forerunner is used heavily throughout the halo series, referring to the old covenant and the rings they used to destroy galaxies…but thats weird that they would call it that b/c it doesnt really make sense since this isnt supposed to be a prequel at all…unless they are going to make a prequel and then pick up where the storyline left off…

Remember children that when we last saw the Master Cheif, he was on a ‘Forerunner’ ship heading for Earth looking for something called the Arc. Sean’s correct in that the Forerunner’s precedded both the Humans and the Covenant and that the rings were created by them.

Tonight’s homework will be to tell me what they call the armor that the Master Cheif wears (and spell it correctly  )

My guess, if any of that article is true, is that the game will be called Forerunner due to fact that alot of the story line will focus on the Forerunners.

mjolnir

and FTW, it means “that which crushes” as it was the name of Thor’s mythical hammer

plz andy, master chief was on a covenant ship heading to earth, while the arbiter and the sgt were just learning of the arc…what :ohsnap:

heres a good summary paragraph of the basis of the forerunners

We’re told t he game’s storyline will delve into the origins of the Forerunners, the long-absent, technologically advanced civilization that inspired the Covenant’s Great Journy. Up to this point, the Forerunners are a mysterious element within the Halo story that has yet to be fully explained. However, the pots of Halo and Halo 2 imply that humans, the Master Chief, and the Forerunners are linked, but with as little we know about the actual plot of this upcoming project, we don’t know how everything is going to fit together. Although our source has seen the Chief in action, even his presence could only be half the truth. After all, this is from the company that surprised everyone with the introduction of the Arbiter as a playable character in Halo 2.

a badass idea…to see who actually created halo…and ultimately destroyed themselves by doing so…

there goes my night…time to go re-beat halo and halo2 to go through the cut scenes and try to get more info

good read btw:

nice

I really enjoyed halo 1 and 2 was semi weak.
By the time this releases i might buy a 360
Ill be mostly interested in the online play by then

That ship the Covenant had at the center of their city was a Forerunner ship, play through and watch the cutscenes, which you already plan to do, and you will see. Granted, the Cheif knew nothing of the Arc, but it is on Earth, or is Earth, and EVERYTHING will come together on Earth.

yea, just did more reading and found how the ark is hidden on earth…but whether or not that is known to all parties…we shall find out

also in that read is suggestions that humans are the forerunners…and i REALLY like the idea that humans sent the installations back in time for defense…

BUNGIE DENIES THE CLAIM

“If this is all a big joke then Game Informer is not very good at cracking jokes and we would think twice before believing Game Informer again. We’re curious how this will all end but expect we won’t be knowing more until the E3 kicks off on the 9th of May.”

Was it their April issue? Could be an april fools joke
