I’m doing a preview story for the D-Sport drift events happening at Bud Park and Stratotech this summer and I’d like to get some photos of local cars doing their thing. If i’m forced to we do have some file photos of events in Calgary and Vancouver, but I’d prefer to get some fresh shots.
Anyhow, if there’s anyone that’s interested in making a little smoke for the camera just PM me or email mhaase@thejournal.canwest.com. I will be getting a call back from Stratotech tomorrow morning to find out if and when we could bring a car or two out to get some photos. If it is to happen it will be during a morning between now and next Wednesday.
Hope to hear from some people soon.
Matt
P.S. I have a few 14" tires if people need something to make a lot of smoke with. :E
P.P.S. Not to insinuate anything, but it would be best if the car(s) were pretty decent looking.
Well I’ll find out tomorrow morning just when this will happen, hopefully we’ll be able to head out on Sunday morning. Sadly there is no guarantee that this would happen, but I’ll talk to Andrew from D-Sport again about coming out at the same time…or at least being in the loop regarding it.
I would prefer some people that have a fair bit of skill so that we don’t have to be tying up the track for too long.
Alright. I spoke with the owners of Stratotech and Bud Park this morning and we have a few options. If people are able to make it out tomorrow (Friday) morning or on Tuesday morning next week we can go out and test out the new concrete corner at Stratotech. If it turns out that people aren’t able to make it then we can hit up Bud Park any time Sunday since they are working on the track and closed down this weekend.
For those who are able to make it out you can email me mhaase@thejournal.canwest.com or phone me between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. today and tomorrow at 498-5686. After 3:30 you can call me at 720-2365. Please let me know what times you will be available and what vehicle you will be bringing. If you are going to come out you will still need to have all the basic safety stuff done to your car: secured battery, no loose items, wheels, tires, brakes and wheel bearings in good working condition. Drivers should also dress in long pants and at least a short-sleeve t-shirt (no tanktops) and bring along a DOT approved helmet. For those people hoping to come out and do a bunch of drifting this will not be an open track, just the use of one or two corners to get photos. I would ask that drivers take it easy when not going through the photo corner.
At the moment I am only looking for two or three drivers with different vehicles since this will not be an actual event, just a test/photo session.
Thanks for everyone’s help.
Matthew Haase
P.S. If you are able to make it out for the morning of Friday the 20th please let me know ASAP so that I can inform the owner of Stratotech of the plans.
Can we come to watch the bud park photo shoot? I could try and drift my completly stock sr5 , but untill june(my silvia will be here hopefully) im rocking an open diff and about a foot of body roll
This will only be open for the people involved with the photoshoot unfortunately. Be sure to head out to Bud Park next Friday though if you’re in town.
