Cam Degreeing/Timing HELP!!!

Ok, so my question is, is there anyone around here who would be able to help me degree in a cam on a SOHC 4cyl.

Two things:

Adjustable cam gear is NOT an option
This is an interference engine

I need help asap, if someone thinks they can help out, I’ll pay, I don’t care, I just need to get this thing running. Had a cam made by Comp and the spec sheet gives details about cam install, but I’ve no clue how to decipher them.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You can’t degree a cam without being able to adjust cam timing. Without adjustable gears you’d have to determine where the cams should go and have gears machined with a different keyway so the cams are in the correct position. Then you wouldn’t be able to change them without having another set of gears machined. At that point you might as well get adjustable gears.

^^^^^right on. The only thing you could do is adjust lifters to open sooner or later but keep in mind your duration will still be the same as the cam spec.

OK, one problem is, this car doesn’t have ADJ cam gears available.

Second, they are sold hydr. lifters, so there’s no chance of adjusting them, the cam sits directly on them…

I believe I’ve figure out my problem tho, my timing is off by a tooth ATM, so I’m going to try fixing that before I get into degreeing the cam.

degreeing a cam is simply checking to make sure the cam you have is what it says it is.

Wrong. You degree a camshaft to make sure the camshaft was ground correctly and the specs on the cam card match what you have in the box. CNC cam grinders sometimes make mistakes or core aren’t indexed correctly. A number of things can happen which cause the number to skew from the cam card which is what the cam should be. Most cam companies will put your actual cam on a cam doctor degree station and give you an actual print out of the camshaft specs for said cam in the box. They usually charge another $25-$40 for this service

THIS IS A SOHC

You can use a offset key. The make them if many sizes hopefully one that fits you. Comon are 1, 2, 4, 6, or 8* offsets.
