They put down salt…it melts the ice…the water evaporates…and guess what your left with the salt…
I understand the need to salt, but the sheer amount they lay down is excessive, and counter-productive.
I’ve seen firm, hardpacked snow with good traction turn to mega-slick slush from them salting when there is no need to.
Salting a road yesterday morning when there is a ultra-thin layer of hardpacked snow (which will melt during the day anyways) is completely unneeding and pointless.
