What do I do? I cant empty the recycling bin… not even in safe mode…
download bc wipe…it might be able to delete it.
I have that too! Wierd that someone else has it too…
Restore the file to the desktop and make a text file with the same name that will replace the messed up one. It’s worked for me in the past.
is it the recycle bin in general, or a specific file in the recycle bin?
wierd… i though i could only see the Dg103’s…
this is what happened in a nutshell…
ok, so…
windows, when you delete a file deletes the file. that file has a record in the mft. that mft record gets transfered into a file called info2, which lives in your recycle bin. the file you deleted gets renamed to D + the volume you deleted it from + incrementing number…
but that is always hidden from the user. i can see that stuff forensically… my guess is your info2 record got lost/deleted and for some reason your computer cant link up the name of the deleted file to the real name…
get it?
Great, now how do you get rid of it master debator
if he really wants to get rid of it, he can wipe it… the mft entry is clearly corrupt/deleted/moved… i would wipe it if you are realy worried about it… im still boggeled on how the info2 record is cleared and it did not move the file to “im ok to write over now” state.
are you running some recovery tools/did you have a system crash or something recently?
but if you are trying to delete somethign thats illegal, i can assure you that there are footprints all over your drive of that file…
I dont think its illegal… i dont even know what it is… I cant get into the bin to look at it… its just an empty window… but when I click on remove theres 36 items in there… and I cant delete one of them because that damn 103 file… I wouldnt care if that was the only file in there but its preventing me from getting rid of the other ish too…
I checked the option to delete things straight up w/ the delete key, so it doesnt use the bin any more… but still i have those ghey 36 items that need some deleting
I’m going to reformat as soon as I have some time… backing up is a PITD… well… I have to drag and drop files to the other 4 HDs… but still… thats just annoying…
