Have you tried pulling codes from your ECU? When you say ignition module, do you mean the PTU? I assume you’re speaking about this 300ZX, so usually the first things to do are to pull the connectors on the CAS and PTU, and clean any rust out of them. Make sure they both have good connection.

I’m pretty sure the ECU is throwing codes on your car anyway, so get the codes and post them here. Remember, 55 means all good

i havent checked codes yet…but ptu is that metal thing with fins…nissan called it ignition module…its black has 2 connectors to it on each side. I just found out how to check for codes…so when i go home i will try it…i was also told i should check my fuel pressure…do u know what the pressure is sapposed to be?

LOL he knows everything about 300 your very lucky to run in to him

Yes that is the PTU (Power Transistor Unit). If you are referring to fins then I assume you still have the old style PTU. The old style PTU responds horribly to heat and is usually located underneath the centre nose panel as opposed to the timing belt cover on the front of the engine.

The fuel pressure should be 43.4psi with the vacuum hose disconnected from the FPR, which is equivalent to WOT. The other RPMs are variable.

oh i guess i have the new one then…because i was just on 300zxclub site and it had a picture of a PTU…and i didnt know what it was…but yeah I will run the codes and all and post em up…

Thank you for helping…

i just ordered a nissan consult from ebay…its the wire, connector and software… thought it would be easier then trying to find code by the light on the ecu

^^^ Find out what “registered software” they are talking about. They may mean, “registered” trial version. Two (maybe three) companies offer trial versions of their full software and one will issue a one time download trial version with you email address, which is exactly what I’ve heard that is before. It is named " Datascan." The other pay for software is Conzult. The rest are free.
A pic of the one on ebay may actually be “Camul” Software… Which is entirely free.
The rest are free:

  • ZTalk
  • Dr300ZX
  • Etc Etc.

I built my Consult unit about 2 years back from scratch and I’ve used it on a couple Z’s (and non-Zs) since.
