find a 1st gen 4dr SOHC 5spd dodge/plymouth/chrysler neon…I bought a '96 for $300 that looked haggard as fuck. put new brakes all around and new brakelines for $100 total investment, 4 tires for $150, and enjoyed dead-nuts reliable 35mpg for 3yrs of beater greatness (never getting stuck in winter either). I decided I wanted to sell it after 3yrs of good service but treated it to a nice rust-oleum $50 roller paintjob (wetsanded and buffed after) and sold that tank for $1100 LOL. I still regret selling that car beleive it or not. I’ll never have the pleasure of a car I can count on for $600 investement over 3+yrs in ownership.
Couple members remember that car and will vouch for the beating it dealt with and never game me an issue.

Nick now you’re talking 1 out of every 100 cars of finding something like that. I’m sorry but that is 1-2 car payments for most. I don’t see how people can be picky when shopping for a “reliable dd that will pass inspection” and expect it to last for years when in reality you’re lucky if it last 3 months. A honda? Yes I’m sure. But don’t expect to find one around here that isn’t rotted to pieces.
