I drove a 97 Neon (which was my Grandmother’s) to school for a summer semester because she wanted the car to get used. It had 8,000 miles on it in 10 years. I tell you what, it had decent power, drove nice, and the sound system was great with the windows down and the Sunroof open.

find a 1st gen 4dr SOHC 5spd dodge/plymouth/chrysler neon…I bought a '96 for $300 that looked haggard as fuck. put new brakes all around and new brakelines for $100 total investment, 4 tires for $150, and enjoyed dead-nuts reliable 35mpg for 3yrs of beater greatness (never getting stuck in winter either). I decided I wanted to sell it after 3yrs of good service but treated it to a nice rust-oleum $50 roller paintjob (wetsanded and buffed after) and sold that tank for $1100 LOL. I still regret selling that car beleive it or not. I’ll never have the pleasure of a car I can count on for $600 investement over 3+yrs in ownership.

Couple members remember that car and will vouch for the beating it dealt with and never game me an issue.

That thing was our junk yard hauling whore, once on the way back the throttle got stuck in traffic and we were bouncing it off the limiter…so many people staring at us lol

great to know. It was also sweet that no one told me that it was used to push a lifted chevy 2500 across the yard. I didn’t look at the back of the car and drive it like 10x before I needed to use the trunk and couldn’t…and thats when the guys fessed up.
