Not to mention modded 335i’s are ticking time bombs without cooling mods too, I fear warranty issues for 335 owners in the coming years, similar to that of evo/sti experiences
explain
they overheat
I’ve only heard of it happening on the track. For street driving, they are fine as far as I know.
I am probably the minority here, maybe has to do with being a little older then most of the denizens here but to me there is so much more to a car then numbers. Even if a vehicle has the ability to back those numbers up with average or above average performance is not the biggest factor for me, I want a car that feels good; i.e. steering, braking, chassis dynamic, etc… Even the viper(in particular early vipers) lacked this, so its powerful and looks pretty good, I’m happy for mopar, but until I drive one or read review after review that it doesn’t feel or drive like a mopar its certainly not the car for me. I’ve got to hand it to mopar, they done a great job revamping their line up, the SRT’s, for the most part, were/are a great deviation from the norm and are a HUGE step closer to what the company is capable of, but all of them still lack the passion and emotion of a truly great car.
Yeah, stock they’re fine, but when people mod the 335s that didnt come with oil coolers, water and oil temps get abnormally high (compared to past bmw i6s) when being driven hard in any aspect…or so i’ve read on the e90 boards
45k for a new vehicle, the last thing I’m gonna do is mod it. Warranty rules.
agreed, but alot of those leave no trace of mods (mainly software), hence my foreseeing future warranty issues.
the new 335 doesnt have an oil cooler :idiots
the new 335 doesnt have an oil cooler :idiots
i think they are making it standard equipment instead of an option.
yeah it seems like a necessary item for a twin turbo car
The new m3 is faster than a 335 in every category possible with more chassis, drive-train, tuning and technology than you can shake a stick at.
The 335 is a great platform with it being an award winning engine sitting in a car that does everything exceptionally well. Are there better cars out there? Yes, Are there cheaper cars out there? Yes but there isn’t anything else out there that does everything to scale as a 335 for the money (THAT IS MY OPINION)
The over heating issues the n54 motor has is due to the second batch of motors not having oil coolers installed due to shortage or supply. The very few vehicles that were plagued by this problem get a retrofitted oil cooler from dealership. I have personally only seen 1 car that needed it and it was a 5 series.
Now as far as bang for buck on a 335 compared to a a new m3 is a good subject for debate. Coming in at almost 18k less the 335 is a great platform for after-market tuning. A chip and exhaust will put you at over 400 torque to the wheels for not that much money. Although there are draw back to the 335… the turbos are integrated in the exhaust manifolds, there will not be easy big turbo upgrades… Also a huge fall back is an open rear diff… BMW thinks they can cure cancer with their traction control and while it works well, when off (any kind of real hard driving) the rear is looking very hard for traction.
Now the m3 will have a very very very cool rear limited slip rear differential via clutches and a new twin clutch transmission. The motor is a high revving v8 with all the technology in world which is great out the door, but not so great for affordable after-market modifications. While its a great car you do have to truly pay to play.
yeah it revs to like 8400 or somhing crazy like that, no doubt the m3 is faster but 18k less and still real quick makes the 335 a great car to, i plan on gettin a 330 in the next 4-5 years cuz college is gonna be way cheaper than i planned (scholarships ftw!!) so maybe in a few years we will have one to play around with
330 zhp is what you want if you can get can get your hands on one… the e46’s are a great cars and pretty problem free only sensitive to a couple minor things.
as all cars have their minor problems, but when you buy from bmw you can get that baller status warranty where if anything happens to your car they fix it, plus free oil changes, plus free carwashes, plus free windshield wiper blades, my moms got a 325xi from keeler and i envy how much she gets done completely free of charge, her brake job was even under warranty, her windshield was hit by a rock and they gave her a new one, if im buying from a dealership its gonna be a bmw, they seem to have great customer service and well service ftw
bmw FTW in general. i’ve owned 2, and let me tell you, i’ll own 10 more given the opportunity.
Yeah BMW has the best maintenance program on the market hands down. Every car comes with 4 year 50k free maintenance all you pay for is gas and tires. The only manufacture who covers brakes, and all services that are recommended. The CPO warranty (certified pre owned from bmw every pre owned car we sell) has a 6 year 100k warranty from the original in service date. You can extend the free maintenance program if you wish but you do have to pay. The ideal situation is getting a cpo car that has around 30 - 40k on it because that way you still have your free maintenance and your car is covered for 6 years
That windshield was covered by insurance most likely, bmw doesn’t cover glass although full coverage on insurance does.
The free car wash comes from Keeler…
BMW FTW
oh maybe the insurance covered it but it was definitly installed at keeler because they drover her to and from work that day ( i would have but i was in school) definitly really into customer service and thats a good thing, plus its a nice car, shame its an automagic
hey guys ck this out
