Carbon Fiber repairs?

does anyone know how to repair carbon fiber?

i have a booklet but its only about fabrication.

Very time consuming and the results arent that good. You need to strip all the clear and fiberglass (depending on the damage) and redo it.

How bad is the damage?

even if you do repair it you still wont be able to save the weave pattern.

if it’s painted just fibreglass it.

right now, i’ve clear siliconed the area, and then I put 3m clear protection film on top.

a repair would depend on a) how deep the damage is b) the materials used

From that single picture not allot can be garnered, however it does not look like the resin used was epoxy. and the way the break has occoured does not suggest that the matrix ( the materials ) is 100% CF or it’s a very light CF weave. ( sub 3k )… but this is a guess based on the break pattern.

If it is not Epoxy used then it CAN be repaired as polyester does not actually bond to, or saturate carbon fibers… will it look like new? no, you’ll never get that back. So spend $600 or so on a similar replacement product or spend $200 or so to have a professional repair it as well as possible
