Carbon fiber work

Who knows how to work with carbon fiber bits? I’m thinking of wrapping my plastic engine covers with some CF. The ones I could buy are ridiculously expensive, so I figure I’ll wrap the ones I have and put the badges on them. I’ve read the online tutorials and what not, but I’d rather talk to a person thats actually successfully wrapped things before. Does anyone have photos of the CF work they did themselves? This isnt very complex, I just never tried doing it before. I could go with the regular or the white/silver weave, i dont know that yet, but that I will decide later. What do you guys think? Silver or regular CF panels? Heres an example if you dont know what my engine bay is like

yummy looking rs4

That’s a 2.7T engine bay from the S4/A6. :confused :idiots

He drives a Honda now… I don’t expect him to know about VAG anymore.

Get it?!

:rofl

that “y” looking pipe is off an rs4 I believe, leading me to believe an rs4, unless I am mistaken in this case? but i don think im wrong here

not fair I just got that! :shifty

It is the hard piping, same as Nick with his stg3+ S4 has. It is from the RS4, but that is not an RS4 motor Mark.

:rofl

how can you tell? i thought that pipe was the only noticable difference.

i cannot guarantee this, but I’d go with Mark on this one. At least the image title says “RS4 motor” the engine bay might be the S4/A6. Its such a closeup that its tough to tell what one it is.

synapse…if they still do it

I know adam/boxersix does work with CF. The existing CF pieces that you don’t want to buy must be VERY expensive if you think having someone custom wrap your existing panels will be cheaper.

be different, get polished aluminum panels made

:+1 Polished aluminum pieces would be sick.

stamped metal sheets or milled out on a cnc?

custom stamped… milled sheets… wtf? You speak like you have a million bucks burning in your pocket

I’d imagine they would just buy sheet metal then cut, shape, and finish however you would want

I LOL’d now everyone here is staring at me. :haha

nah, milled from like chunks of aluminum, but i was thinking it’d be too much. custom stamped sheets? only if Audi sponsored me. how do you get the sheets into the same shape as the original panels? cuz wouldnt u have to kinda cut some edges and get em welded and smoothed out. itd run WAY WAY a lot.

250. i wonder if i can wrap them for less

Itd be WAY WAY cheaper for some one to custom make panels out of sheet metal VS getting it custom stamped or milled. BUT all options will most likely cost more than ones that you can already buy.

aluminum panels, do it! pussy!

where uhm, where does one obtain aluminum sheets?

http://www.aluminumsheets.com :lol

Google it :nod
