This is going to be a completely opinionated thread, so throw whatever you got, just be capable of taking a burn.
Came to a realization last night that for those who buy cars not as a daily driver, but for pleasure tend to buy the car with a different perspective. I would say that most of us on here are car nuts, and love ours cars with a deep passion. Therefore we buy these cars not with our heads, but our hearts, there’s no way of rationalizing this, it’s like love…and you surely can’t rationalize that.
But it got me thinking that we car nuts think of cars not as just cars, but as a symbol of something… a person…a reputation, an image…but what you drive is a reflection of who you are. Therefore, I want to open up the floor to you guys: Name a car, it’s year, make, model, class, and tell me what you think of it. Is it cool? What are the types of people that drive them? etc…
For example:
Porsche Boxster 99+
Although it’s kinda cool due to the cheap price and the fact it’s a porsche, it’s such an uncool car. Main reason being that if caught driving this, people won’t be thinking “oooh…he made it, he has a porsche” it’ll be more along the lines of “oooh…he wasn’t smart enough to get that extra A in school, therefore didn’t get the job that paid that money, and therefore he is driving a boxster and not a 911”
that’s just uncool.
and the fact that it’s a convertible, people can see the face of failure…

^^^^ You can not look at it that way, It depends what you are into, I have two sets of friends and they like different cars for different reasons, for etc. My car buds are into cars like me and speed alo of money into our car, because we like boost, speed and racing ( at the track), my other friends like clubing so they buy nice cars to get bubble head girls.
Yes I may drive a moded 240sx, but if I was not into cars I would have bought a G35 OR A BMW.

You’re an older man or woman, that generally ignores traffic laws and yaps on their cellphone or bluetooth all day and completely ignores Antonio when he pulls up beside you in THE SAME FUCKING car to give you the thumbs up or a wave.
That’s the thing I miss about having a 240, there was an unspoken, unnofficial bond between people that have one. Plus you can do use the pop ups to wave at people

Here’s my beef on BMW,
Great driving machines hands down…but geez they are so bland. I equate BMW’s as the direct reflection of the management team at a corporation. All of them are ambitious and like sheep (baaaa). They follow each other’s taste because they think it projects ‘authority and respect’. Therefore, with each series that BMW releases it’s intended for a specific management level. For example
3 series = team lead or supervisor
5 series = upper management
7 series = executive management
x series = middle - upper management guys with families
M series = those that want the image of a bmw, but wants to be cool with the sport package & performance so that they can blend in with the car enthusiasts
As a conclusion, buying a beemer is a lot like buying something mundane…like…i dunno like…wood. You just go up to the sales person, you tell them what management level you are in…and they will measure the car that you need, give you say…12 ft worth of car, slap a BMW badge on it, and call it a day.
