i am in Niagara Falls, Ontario and i have a cell plan that gives me 1800 minutes (yes i use them all) per month
it is what is called a Canada One rate where i pay no long distance anywhere in Canada or the US so long as i am calling from Canada.
sounds good… but costs me about $250 cdn per month, or $220 USD per month now.
what i am thinking of doing is the following because US plans are infinately cheaper.
getting a US based cell phone plan with say verizon or cingular or who ever so long as it is cheaper…
the plan must have unlimited calling anywhere in north america and no roaming or low roaming fees… i am hoping that i could get this for say $100 a month or slightly more.
i would then reduce my canadian based plan to the absolute minimum, say $30 a month, and have all my calls forwarded to my US phone so that canadian peeps dont have to pay the long distance.
is this pheasible?
can anyone link me to a plan from any US cell company that would be like this?
Bing - Could you just get a single plan in the U.S.? I have Cingular - free roaming anywhere in the United States, and when I go up to Canada and make/receive calls from there, there is no additional charge, at least that I know of.
i have done this before. Verizon Wireless offers a “north america’s choice” plan.
they are almost the same as the regular “america’s choice” plans, however offer unlimited use in canada, US, and mexico. the prices are $20 more than regular, so for the 450 minute plan, $60/month. 900 minute plan, $80/month. all plans come with 1000 night and weekend minutes and 1000 verizon to verizon minutes
call id/call waiting/voicemail/3 way calling are all included in every plan now offered from VZW.
if you are interested, see if you can find out how many day time minutes you use per month (between 6 am and 9 pm, mon thru fri)
