Cerberus owns 80% of Chrysler

Hmm… this news broke last week, though I don’t recall a post of it on here.

And FWIW, it’s been commented on elsewhere as an interesting tidbit that a company named after the three-headed dog that guards the gates of Hell now is set to own the majority of Chrysler.

Yeah, I didn’t see it posted anywhere either. I thought it was strange that an investment firm would think investing in US auto manufactures was a good idea right now.

Their business is buying near bankrupt companies and making them profitable. Should add a whole lot of fire to the upcoming UAW contract negotiations.

God I hope so.

a mythical 3-headed guardian of hell owns chrysler!!!

…Actually im not really that surprised

We’ll soon see just how bad the UAW wants to self-destruct. I doubt those boys at Cerberus are going to stand for much bs in negotiations and will just as soon chop it up and sell everything off. They are there to make money.

Pretty much my point. A company that specializes in making money buying up companies that unions have run into the ground does not put their money on the line to keep the status quo.

EDIT:
IB4 Some union guy spews the union approved BS about CEO salaries, despite the fact that a million dollar CEO salary represents somewhere around .002% of a domestic automaker’s budget.

Mind you - this is the same company that bought 51% of GMAC, and also owns some other auto-related companies (and had been bidding for part of Delphi. too)

they will probably split the company up and keep only chrysler financial. having that and gmac would be like having Boardwalk, and Park Place.

sell off the junk, and keep the easy income
