Charging problem

hmmm…

ok, battery was low after sitting for 2 months. I charged it up a bit and took the car for a ride. started fine when I stopped somewhere…

yesterday I took the car out and my voltage was going down from 13.5 all the way to 7.8 and thats when My radio stopped, turn signals, etc etc. so I turned around and came home.

Now I will put a battery jump pack onto the battery and it fires right up, stays around 11.7 volts. when I take the jump pack off it will drop down to 8.x and 7.x again and then the car will stall out within like 10 secs, it wont idle very long.

Im thinking it is the alternator. anyone else care to chime in?

def the altinator the only reason it is reading 11.7 is because its picking voltage off of the jump pack. get an altinator.

durrr I knew that. I was just stating that to let people know what was going on.

ya im probably just gonna get an alternator. might as will get a smaller ODP while im at it

went under the car a little bit ago and checked all connections, 1 wire was a little loose so I tightened it up and tried again, boom! 13.9V. Went into the house for a beer, came out and it was at 8.6V lol and stalled slowly after. Guessing that the alternator was working, got warm and died.

I then unhooked all the wires from the battery and used the jump pack as a battery. fired up with 11.7V and slowly decreased to 10.7V and battery light came on. I havent heard the alternator whine at all, 99% sure its the alternator now

woot! installed new alternator and added a LFS overdrive pulley. holding steady at 13.7-13.9V for the past 20 mins
