And Patrick just built a new store recently and they are Pontiac GMC Jeep and losing Jeep and Pontiac in the next year
That’s what I thought, sucks to be them.
What about Jim Ball? wait he has a few other brands as well I wonder if that fat ass loud mouth that had his own tv show on the discovery channel will be closing as well. I cant stand that guy and dont get me going with Billy.
I believe it was University Dodge. You had to buy a new, very big, expensive truck and they would give you a cheaper new truck for free.
Damn I ordered a truck a few weeks back and it is supposed to be in this week or next.I wonder If I should wait until GM files the week of the 23rd and see what extra deals I can get?
the reason they are closing dealers is supply and demand. if there are 20 dealers all selling the same thing it will drive the price down because every single one of them is going to want to make the sale. with 3-4 strategically placed dealers there is not as much pressure to sell the cars as cheap, thus creating a higher profit without doing anything. also, when good things are hard to find it makes the item more desirable. but take that good thing and put it on every corner and it loses its lustre. i.e. krispy kreme
My neighbor works at Webster Chrysler. She said someone called and offered them $10k for a 30K vehicle. They counter with 27K and said if they did not sell it they would just wholesale them at auction.
I could see the opposite though, they will lose market share if they start uping their prices. This has got to be the worst time ever to try and get more money cars. My 2 cents.
They need to start turning profits at dealerships though. Selling cars at/near cost isn’t making them any money.
If all car dealerships stick their guns and sell cars at/near sticker price, with no budging, then the general public really has no choice. If they want the new car, they will have to pay for it.
Even if they sell less cars, then at least they are making profit from the ones they DO sell. Also, when things start turning around economically, they can keep prices the same, and cars will start to move faster, and then the real profits will be made.
At first I was thinking, why did I just buy a new used car? Then I remembered, Chrysler makes nothing that I would be interested in.
So everyone pays higher prices for their cars, and less cars are sold so less people have jobs at the manufacturers and their suppliers. Lose lose.
Yeah, I mean doesn’t Hyundai have cars for like $9000 with warrantys that last for a decade? How is higher domestic prices going to help? I just don’t get it.
