A song that doesn’t die… Even has Zombie in the title!
a thread where people +++ Styx and then - - - B.I.G. is an old white man thread… Also wreaks of red state.
Unless you guys are in your 40’s what the heck are you doing favouriting your parents’ music?
where’s all the beastie’s, Pearl Jam, GNR, RATM, Soundgarden, Wu-Tang, U2, REM, Lauryn Hill…? and if you’re into your parents’ tunes why no Clapton, Santana etc?
Clapton rocks.
Biggie was a good rapper, so was 2pac. Loved them when I was younger and still listen to them. I’m not really into rap anymore but the stuff they put out back then was actually rap.
Rap died with Biggie and 2pac. Eminem brought it back for awhile with his first 2 albums but then rap died again when that Laffy Taffy song came out and the The South took over rap.
I’ll be 24 at the end of the month, just because the music is old doesn’t mean it sucks. Since you mentioned the Beastie Boys (who I love), how many Led Zeppelin songs did they sample? It’s an ever growing list, so nobody skipped your aforementioned artists, they just haven’t been listed yet. I wouldn’t include any Biggie or 2Pac except maybe Big Poppa. I’m not taking anything away from either artists, it’s just that outside of the rap community, who’s heard these songs?
as far as im concerned most “classic hits” need to be forgotten
ill never be able to fathom how people listen to the same shit on 97 rock all day everyday…
97 Rock plays good shit too often. I get it, people like paradise city like 80 times a day, I don’t. I stopped listening to 97 Rock, cause they only play the most popular shit from the 70s/80s. No Prog Rock like pre '76 Genesis, or Gentle Giant or even King Crimson. Over playing songs can definitely kill them for me. I basically want nothing to do with Guns ‘N’ Roses or any Brian Johnson AC/DC. I want my own radio station to play everything from Punk to Metal to Classical to Pop.
Genesis mentioned twice in this thread?
:picard: and
LOL
YES! I need to dig up some of their stuff again. Thanks for reminding me.
Agree, the problem is those albums came printed on two sides, just most DJ’s can’t find the ‘B’ side.
But if that music was “popular” it would take all the fun out of playing them on internet juke boxes at bars.
The Peter Gabriel years of Genesis is arguably some of the best music ever.
And this is the largest problem, yes Metallica’s Black album sold the most, was the most popular, and Enter Sandman was THE SINGLE from that album. But it was not their best song or best album. I still listen to the Black album, but when I do I skip over the first track because I honestly can not listen to it. I’ve just heard it too many times, I don’t even know if it is a good song.
Just saying “best” and “classic hit” are not synonymous.
Pretty much anything from Bob Marley Legend. The lack of Marely posts on this website is concerning.
How could I forget Bob? Lots of good times listening to his tunes. Spare me the pot jokes. LOL
I have all the albums!
