My digital camera takes some decent movie clips and will record for as long as I have media space.
I would like to take videos and put them up online to share with people, however, the file sizes when I download them off my camera are enormous.
What kind of program do I need to be able to compress these files and still maintain some degree of quality?
You can DL demo programs like Dr.DivX or I think Windows Movie Maker can do it as well. Look around www.download.com

Virtualdub is also a decent free one. Or if you have no issues with.wmv files windows movie maker is good at compression.
wmm is super easy and super efficent at simply compressing…for editing use something else
