I went to the second day of the Cayuga track; it was only drag. I had a good time but I was running 16.5 all day, sometimes even higher. It was fairly depressing although expected. My car is pretty much stock, to the engine. So I came home and decided to do a compression test and I was getting 155-160 on all cylinders. I was reading some old posts and people are saying 180 to even 200. I have 91’ ka24de. So is my engine crapped out on me?
as long as its consistent across its ok …
16.5 is the average time for a ka … i managed a 16.6
So i shouldn’t expect 180’s across?
not all ka’s will show 180 across … some ive tested have shown 200+ , others lower.
if all cylinders are 155 - 160 , thats ok
if cylinder 1,2,3 are 155 and 4 is 180 then there is something wrong there.
if the compression numbers are Constant within (10 psi i think ?) across 4 cylinders then ur motor is fine.
Compression Pressure kPa (kg/cm2, psi) / RPM
Standard = 1,236 (12.6, 179) / 300
Minimum = 1,040 (10.6, 151) / 300
Difference limit between cylinders = 98 (1.0, 14) / 300
so i went to the track again today, did a lil timeing change with the rotor cap, and I got a 15.8, with a .341 reaction time, this time I left all the seats even the spare tire in and got better, timming musta been pritty sucky… im happier… still slow though, i supose 160 psi isnt the end of my life
