compression tests question...

ive done a few compression tests before but i hear a couple different ways!

basically my questions are

pull out one spark plug at a time or all of them?

hold the throttal WOT? OR NOT?

I WANNA do a compression test the right way before i yank the motor and tranny out of the six…

well id say one at a time with no throttle, but im no mechanic. well shade tree maybe

& disable the spark & fuel!!!let the motor spin at lease 3 times!!!

pull all spark plugs throtle at wot , and put a batter charger on

Stick your mouth over the spark plug hole and get somebody else to crank it. Thats how I do mine atleast.

sick

no throttle, pull one plug at a time, crank over 3 or 4 times, repeat process until done.

easy as pie

 WOT

i pull all 4, and go wide open throttle w/ coil and lead to injectors un plugged so no fuel or spark is given.

if u go one plug at a time, and air is leaking to the next cylinder, it will pressurize still b/c that chamber is sealed. however, if that cylinder has the plug out, then the air would blow out if you were in fact leaking.

kinda like doing a leakdown test. pull all the plugs out, and set piston manually to a bit b4 tdc, and run the test. u’ll hear where air is leaking, as well as the reading on the guage telling you the % of leakdown.

WOT w/ out fuel… pull 1 plug at a time… spark is irrelevant

i always pull all 4
