CompUSA closing over half it's stores

And I’ve heard the Buffalo store is on the closing list.

Might be some good clearance deals.

yup its confirmed still have friends that work there back when i did.

sweet…maybe when things go 50% off it will be worth it to go there

Even then it would still be above retail most of the time, at least as far as hardware is concerned.

word… will have to watch for some hot dealzzz

wtb, external hd… the cheapest i saw when i was there was like 120 for an 80gb, rippppppp offfffffff

yay now the boulevard mall can expand terrific.

Compusa’s 50% off would be like average price :stuck_out_tongue: Gotta wait for the 75-90%

wow, maybe the clearance prices will be somewhat comparable to newegg

I dont understand how there places are making any sales. Everything online these days is at least 30% less expensive and generally no sales tax.

Because not everyone is saavy enough to look online or shop around for better prices.

Obviously more and more are becoming savvy for this to happen.

Ugh CompUSA sucks ass.

If they have a good sale on something, you can be nearly certain that they will have 3 of them. So by the time you get there, they have nothing.

Of you can have the scenario that I had the other day. I was going to buy a new TV. CompUSA had a good deal on the one i wanted. I went there and stood around in the TV area for a good 10 minutes. No one came over to me, nor was I able to find someone to help me. I stepped over to Circuit City where I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door, and I had my TV price matched to CompUSA in the same 10 minute time period.

Yep. Either that or people are sick and tired of being suckered into so called sales that end up being rebate lotteries.

Sometime they had good sales…but you needed to get you @ss there early to take advantage. Their prices are high on all products. When I do go in the store, there are a few and between potential customers…

Fuck.

As much as we all hate their prices, once in awhile it would be decent to just ride up there and cop something cheap, especially during an issue you need fixed ASAP…

Yeah but a business like that can’t survive on people like you and I, who only shop there in an emergency when they need something like yesterday.

I remember when I was a kid there was that computer city store in the colvin eggert plaza, it was like the only computer store in the area, and it was actually neat to go in there and buy stuff. I remember paying 100 bucks for a 28.8 modem in there with my dad. That place should have thrived, because there was no Walmart around here, and it was THE place to buy computer stuff. Hardly anyone was ordering shit on the internet back then.

Now in 2007, its a totally new game.

I buy every fucking thing online. Fedex is at my house every day of the week pretty much. I don’t even go to shopping malls anymore, I just wait for slickdeals to post about a gap sale or a old navy sale online, and I stock up. I’ll spend like 100 bucks and get a whole new wardrobe of 90 percent off clothes.

When it comes to computer stuff, I hitup all the comparison sites, ebay, and buy directly online.

I was looking at some plasma TV’s. The only place I would buy one at, that has good deals, would be Costco. Sams club is a good second best, but think about it. I would rather order one online and pay no tax. Most places ship the thing for almost free, and their prices are cheaper.

The last thing I bought at compusa was a 9 dollar microsoft mouse that was 50 percent off. The time before that was several years ago, I needed a power supply in a pinch, and bought a 50 dollar one there.

I haven’t been inside compusa in over a year.

Same goes for bestbuy and circuit city, they are such a ripoff I can’t believe it.

The last time I was in compusa looking for a long usb cable. They wanted like 25 dollars for a cable, I just laughed and walked out the door.

I ordered one on ebay for like 3 bucks shipped.

Fuck compusa.

It would be nice for Frys to open in this area,in its place.

I did a black friday once at Compusa, got some good deals on 200gb hdds and power supplies, other than that I only went there when I needed a random part and did not feel like waiting several days to ship, just to return it
