I am up for a new computer at work… it’s gotta be a Dell Latitude Series but i don’t know enough either way to know the difference…
That said, i have the opportunity to spec it out however i want within that series…
I have no clue what the options are and what to look for…
It’s just used as a business machine but fast internet, running like 250mb of multiple excel files at the same time, etc. etc. are a must.
Advice?
e6510 with a core i7 processor and 4GB RAM
i7 is the latest and greatest processor by intel
The RAM will help with speed when opening and working with large files.
Wouldn’t hurt to upgrade to the 500GB hard drive either. Other than that, theres really not much to it. On-board intel graphics should be fine.
Acutally, if you really want it to fly, get an SSD for the internal drive and then a 1TB external to hook up to it for storage purposes. The SSD will make your files (and OS) load much much faster.
yeah, some people get an external hard drive to keep all their files on, and use the actual computer to keep programs etc. makes everything smoother
That is a real PITA if he travels or goes between the office and home a lot. An option though.
you could get external hard drives the length of your palm if not shorter, and way thinner. all you need is a short usb cable. if you travel a lot you could easily put them both in the same bag you keep your laptop in. it will reduce clutter on your actual computer and increase operation speed considerably.
