…along with your garden variety “nutrient” like E. coli & Enterococcus. It gets worst…:pop
Adding to the concern, almost all of the disease-causing organisms in our 257 samples proved resistant to one or more of the antibiotics commonly used to fight them. Turkeys (and other food animals, including chickens and pigs) are given antibiotics to treat acute illness; but healthy animals may also get drugs daily in their food and water to boost their rate of weight gain and to prevent disease. Many of the drugs are similar to antibiotics important in human medicine.
That practice, especially prevalent at large feedlots and mass-production facilities, is speeding the growth of drug-resistant superbugs, a serious health concern. People sickened by those bacteria might need to try several antibiotics before one succeeds.
On of the many problems with our food supply. One of the many reasons our family has made a lot of changes to our diet. There’s actually a problem with all of the mass produced/factory farmed meats like this. Remember this the next time you buy a cheap hamburger…
We only cook with ground turkey, both of our preferences! I make all my meatballs/ tacos/ burgers/ etc with turkey. I wish I could have taken a picture of Mikey B’s face the one time I told him the meatballs I made were turkey priceless!
For shit like tacos and chili its goddamned perfect, and I’m under the impression that its generally better for you. 90% of people don’t even notice the difference.
Take some ground turkey mix it with an egg/egg white, a little turkey stuffing mix, diced onions, and diced celery, salt and pepper to taste. Form into burgers and grill them up. Thank me later.
I usually just mix the ground turkey with fresh jalapeeeeenos and cubed habanero cheese and some montreal steak seasoning- as long as you mix it good they usually stay together pretty well on the grill.
