CONVERTED my Focus SVT into an RS!

snapped some pics of the driver side and then pulled all the masking off

Looks awesome! Keep up with the work!

A make shift paint booth and thinner more patient coats would have went a long way. Sure hope you didn’t paint over anything not sanded and wet sand those damn fish eyes!

what fisheyes? there aren’t any. I wetsanded the entire car in 600grit by hand. floor was wet and did 7 coats of color with 4 coats of clear.

I’m not talking shit I’m just saying. Maybe for future reference. Yea most of that can be wet sanded down.

those aren’t fisheyes, they are dust that got in the final coat of clear…but like you said, it will wetsand out no problem…that’s why I didn’t take the time to try to set up a makeshift booth in my garage as it was already pretty cramped to do this in there…kept the floor wet and did the best I could to keep the dust down but expected a little to end up in the paint.

Looks better then 90% of the cars I see on the road already. Good work, get this beast finished!

I figure it’s about 90% better than a maaco or earl shribe paintjob, so I’m pretty happy with the end result considering it was a hobby/garage job.

so yesterday my dad came over and helped me put the rear glass in, and then I started re-assembling…

still fighting with the passenger side fender though so front clip isn’t on yet

The paint job really does look good in person.

Looks awesome.

Nice job nick

Lookin good homie! Gimme a hollar if you want a hand this week putting it together

Nice

looking much better this time around

Lookin good Nick! Cant wait to see it finished! My bumper and fender you did came out awesome, I couldent be happier! A+++

Nice… Nice to see u stuck with the project and your making progress. Any updates?

update: fiberglass fucking sucks.

LOL

serisously though the passenger fender is still fighting me. I had it damn near perfect saturday and just needed to put a little primer on a couple spots I cut through it wetsanding…of course it was the end of my last can and instead of running out for a new can I tried to stretch the end of the can, and it came out all wierd and spotty/heavy like it was splooging all over my perfect fender…so I waited overnight to sand it off again, and broke into some more air bubbles in the fiberglass and made more work for myself yet again.

I found a guy with the REAL metal RS fenders for $500 for the pair, if I have the loot after my vacation to vegas the 14th then I’m buying them to make new molds (once I confirm they aren’t bent like the ones my current molds were made from) and then selling them again for the $500. I’ll make new fiberglass one-piece fenders in the spring and do my touch-up work and finish off the smaller details like trim pieces and wet-sand/buff.

If I can make this passenger fender presentable tonight, then I’m going to put the front clip on tomorrow while I’ve got the day off and possibly put some miles on the car. Maybe hit Tea Leaf if anyone is going to go up there tomorrow night.

My exhaust comes tomorrow so I MAY have it on
