why not just use the metal fenders?
because I want my car to speak for my work. If I won’t run my own fiberglass fenders on my own personal car, how can I expect someone else to buy my product and use it on their car?
makes sense, i didnt realize you were trying to sell kits
Well, I put it together…but not without a hitch…basically, these fenders suck. They’re better than the ones I produced from the molds, but still not good enough… The flare portion of the passenger side is good, but along the door fits terrible…and I chipped the new paint on the leading edge of the door, gonna have to remove door and repaint in spring :-/
the driver side fits the hood and door great, but the flare is off by a decent margin, I’m not happy with these results, so I’m pretty damn lucky I found those OEM metal RS fenders and paid for them today so that I can make proper molds and coincidentally make proper fiberglass fenders…
two quick pics
new problem though…I moved the car around under it’s own power twice, but now it seems to have developed a short…only thing I touched wiring-wise is the tail lights so I’m gonna have to pull those and see whats going on because now the car won’t turn over, just trips out from the short.
If you ever need a stock SVT to compare something to let me know ill swing by
thanks man, on the contrary if you need any parts of ANY sort, let me know haha. I’ve got some rare euro goodies and I’ll be selling my stock 5-spokes with snow tires on 'em…(they’re a bit curbed up and not worth DD-duty)
I would be VERY interested in the five spokes and snows man.
I would want the wheels/snows for winter as my wheels are really nice still.
I’d like to drive it a couple weeks, but I can put it on jackstands for the winter while I put together my wheel/tire setup for spring and sell them to you in a couple weeks if you’d like…
Sounds good man
How much for them?
I just got it running on my lunch break and drove it back to work.
turned out to be dirty battery connections and corrosion at the grounding wires @ the framerail
Pic-Whore time…
I’ll start with the good and then follow up with the issues.
OK, now…the fender fitment issues
passenger side:
Down here, its too tight of a clearance @ the middle area of the door, but then opens up toward the rocker panel
Then at the top it opens up again, doesnt sit too nice against the A-pillar, and bows inward instead of outward where the bodyline changes
then it’s a pretty decent fit at the arch…the leading edge/nose could use some tweaking, but I give up on these…I bought REAL RS fenders to mold instead.
Driver side: Fits decent along the door, a-pillar, and hood…
then fits like doo-doo along the arch area.
they fit bad in the opposite places LOL. whatever, I’m driving it!
Looking cooler overall. Are there side skirts for this too? (sorry for not scanning all 9000 posts for the answer)
X…
yes and no(meaning were, but not anymore, but will again soon)
basically, I borrowed some OEM sideskirts to mold, but sent them back to their owner before making sure the mold was 100%, and coincidentally the sets I’ve made aren’t perfect. I’ve secured another set to borrow to correct the issues, but won’t have them until spring.
Gameplan is in spring to finish making all the rest of the trim pieces and the sideskirts, then mold EVERYTHING that isn’t already molded (which is only quarterpanels and bumpers at this point)…then I’ll make new front fenders that fit better and paint them when I paint sideskirts and all the trim pieces.
Then I’ll run a group buy and make mass profits haha
Looking good now get some wheels chooch.
Those headlights look mean!
I like it.
However, unless this was parked next to another red focus of the same year, I probably would think it was stock.
nice to see it in person yesterday. some really good work and certainly unique for the area.
