CONVERTED my Focus SVT into an RS!

Just remember, you can turn these around for a pretty penny so your effort isn’t going to waste ya know?

I keep telling myself that, but these NEED to be PERFECT for me to be able to run around for a profit. I expect a certain quality of myself (and expect potential buyers to assume the same quality)

I’m somewhat convinced these won’t come out right. This is going to end up being an awful lot of work and I’m really burnt out on all these projects and wrenching.

there’s always got to be a problem.

I’m telling ya dude, give ALL the projects a break for a month or so.

Checko is such a nice dude he came over again and helped me lay up BOTH rear quarterpanels. The coral pink color of the gelcoat is because I was low on white gelcoat and mixed in some orange gelcoat so I’d have enough…produced that funny pinkish color haha.

and I started block sanding the seam on the driver front fender

fender is gonna need another layer of filler minimum. Man is this a pain in the butt.

Flesh tone.

there’s a really solid chance I can make this driveable to bring it to the BBQ, but it probably wont have the rear glass back in and it’s going to be a haggard looking car with multiple stages of bodywork all over it. I’ll be lucky to get the fenders and quarters straight enough that they’ll be in primer-sealer by then…so might still have rivets and epoxy exposed and be multiple colors haha.

I have never done body work, and I respect the skills of anyone who can do it. I hope the car comes out well and that you get to enjoy your hard work soon

Checko is a great dude! It’s turning out solid so far. Deff more filler for the fenders hahaha! Body work sucks, and its very tedious. But I kinda like it lol. I can’t wait to see this thing driving haggard as fuck!

Ohh and can’t wait to see how the quarters turn out once they are popped outta the molds!

ask and ye shall recieve…

popped ‘em out on lunch, look fantastic. hopefully they fit better than the front fenders… I’ll be gettin’ out the grinder over the next few days and cutting up the stock quarters to get these fitted in.

The yard that has the AWD Jag in it also has an SVT Focus. Drivetrain and front are gone, but the rest is there in ok shape. some interior bits are gone

I forget, is the jag an auto or manual trans? and the SVT is missing the front and drivetrain?? I’d be MORE than interested in spare front seats and a mint hatch door if it’s in good shape…

Wow! Those came out awesome nick!

jag was auto, firewall forward on the SVT was missing/no good. It is blue, blue seats, and the hatch looked good on it. I’ll probably try and go back this weekend or next and I’ll see if I can get pictures.

So the big opening on the front bumper is usually backed with a really nice mesh grille that has special tabs on it to really mount nice and stiffen up the bumper… I had originally planned on just using some random mesh from lowe’s because the OEM grille is damn near $200 plus shipping from the UK for a used item…

HUGE SCORE: I just nabbed one stateside new in box for $65 shipped. fucks yea

WHAT HAVE I DONE!?!?!?

lol

got the driver side rear quarter panel mocked up thanks to Luke (pirite)

lots ‘o cuttin’

trimming the excess from the fiberglass panels

I ground the edge of the flair down as far as possible to have the same effect of “rolled” fenders of a metal flair

Then after numerous test-fits and trimming until it sat just right, I beveled the flange so that once I bod the flair to the body of the car from behind it, the top surface of the fiberglass will be flush with the top surface of the existing metal (will make for easy body-filler work)

(lots of dust flying in those two pics)

mocked up with screws for now:

look how much more wheel I’ll be able to run…

That’s all for tonight…I’m going to try to get the other side to the same point over the weekend…

What a “what the fuck are we doing” moment…

16x10’s et 0 or bust.

18x9.5

even 17s look TINY on RS bodywork…

in this picture the one on the left is 17x8 and the one on the right is 18x8

I want to convert to 5x114.3 and run these in 18x9.5 with 6.6" backspacing(will need 15mm spacer to clear struts)

Luke’s handy work…taking photos. At least he didn’t use his camera and hoard them for a long time like mine. haha
