Corvair

I heard a story about 2 corvairs 1 is a spyder, other is a aircooled 6, 1800 for both how about them apples. I may actually buy them.

one Tboned me back in HS driving my mom’s truck, popped the aux gas tank, it wasn’t pretty

good luck on the deal

corvairs are very unique. well balanced good handling cars.

my dad used to have a spyder, he loved that thing.

Cool site about corvairs:

The Corv-8 was the v-8 conversion. Usually a Chevy small block in the back seat.

I have an corvair motor (air cooled 6) i cannot get running for the life of me, it is on a dune buggy, neat motors…

good luck!

I heard they rust out like crazy and that the metal used was extremely cheap. :dunno:

I kinda like the way they look and wouldn’t mind having one though, even though it is a chebby.

Anyone seen that local one with the small block in it buddy of mine races it at beaverun and shit. Its clean and balanced.

Gearhead and I saw him last year. I helped him push it a little. Nice car.

I’m big in to Corvairs and hope to have one in the near future. Yes, they rust crazy so you can find them cheap but you get what you pay for. Can you say poor mans Porsche? :wackit: I love 'em! They can be made in to terrors. Turbo the flat 6, don’t go for the v8 swap!

i was thinking of an old 914 air cooled porsche motor would b pretty schweet and original. Just need a 914 motor…and the corvair…and money…and less cars.

Does it look like this?

On a side note I dunno if i’d go with a 914 motor, most of the 914 guys looking for power go right to a flat 6 from a 911. I’m sure the 914 motor would move the corvair, but due to the weight difference i’d rather have the torque of the 6.

Of course the one pictured in the link has the V8 located in the middle of the car pratically so the weight disturbtion is damn near perfect, plus with the power you get its a win/win situation.

And if anyone goes to the Pittsburgh Vintage Gran Prix races at beaverun, you can see a real Yenko Stinger in action.

Yeah thats him clean car.
