Alright, I just want to say, there’s always two sides to a story… I expected this response from the members on here because I’m Joey and am THAT 18 year old kid on here who is easy to take shots at.
First, in response to Cossey’s thread last night, the Civic I recieved was/is not “Pristine”. Sure, the interior may be clean minus the cigarette burn holes in the seats/door panels and the exterior may be clean due to bondo etc. The Civic has areas of rust(very minimal like the Accord) and an area where it was hit, very visible I’m not complaining. The Civic’s transmission is quite sloppy, in a sense that when put into 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and sometimes 5th it jerks a bit. For anyone who is going to doubt this, I can take you for a ride to show you, but I’m not all that concerned. I’ll return to this subject later on in the response.
To start, Jason is a great guy, he approached me about trading for the Accord because it was automatic etc. and he needed an automatic car for a period of time. So I said sure why not(this was about a month and a half or so ago). I was/am by no means out to scam anyone, or hide anything. Jason came over to my house one night a few weeks back which was supposed to be the initial each other check out each other’s cars. My dad and I explained to him what we KNEW was wrong with the Accord, meaning the transmission slipping(in all honesty, how was I supposed to know the transmission was going to blow, like seriously?), the paint fade(obviously). The Accord had 250,xxx miles on it. I told him everything that I was aware of that was wrong. I purchased the Accord for simply a beater, not a car I was going to be keeping for a long period of time so therefore I didn’t go through and check every little thing like Jason did. Jason went through the car thoroughly and found every single little thing wrong with it, AFTER he bought it. Shouldn’t that be something that should be done BEFORE buying? I see a sense of buyer’s remorse after him buying the Accord.
Anyways, the Accord had a check engine light for something so we replaced the o2’s and it had fixed the check engine light for a period of time until 2 days before we traded. I cleared the code the morning of thinking it was nothing, went to DMV, did the deal, then him finding the problems started. Power locks and security system etc. doesn’t have the remote. OK, I really didn’t mind/didn’t ask any questions when I bought the car because I really didn’t care. Back to the check engine light…We got back to my house to put the plates on each car etc. and I scanned the Accord and actually checked the code. Apparently it was a bad cat code, now Cossey mentioned in his thread last night about him not being able to get it inspected etc. The car’s inspection sticker isn’t up until May or June of '09, again why I didn’t worry about it. The cruise control, I actually knew that didn’t work or at least it wasn’t hooked up, but seriously, how was I supposed to know someone cared that much about having cruise control? Either way, He found what the problem was in my driveway and it appeared to be snapped off where the cruise hooks to, again another thing I really didn’t care about when owning the car, so I didn’t check it out. So I told him, find the part that need to be replaced whether it be the little ring it hooks to or the entire throttle body and I’ll pay for it. Again, he was told of everything I knew was wrong with it the night upon him coming over to “check the car out” and he kind of brushed it off like “yeah, yup, oh idc it’s cool”, offered to let him drive it, he declined said he didn’t really care too much.(may not be much, because I didn’t really care all to much to thoroughly check out the Accord)
Also, Jason mentioned how he texted me, but not occasionally, constant texts basically saying he wanted his car back. I responded for the first day or so then stopped, I don’t have the time to constant text someone arguing that I don’t have the money to go back to DMV and drop another ~$100+ on registration and plate transfer, nor do my parents think it’s right that the buyer(Jason) decided to thoroughly check out the car post-purchasing the car and wants to go back to DMV with money I don’t have to re-register a car. There was no offer by him to pay for the fees etc. You don’t make a deal and then be like “oh I don’t like it it’s a piece of shit, I want to trade back”.
Now, the '96 Civic I received, as I stated before I don’t really care about minor things wrong with the beaters I drive for the winter, because that’s simply all it is. I mean I could go through the car completely and complain about how it needs brakes, the tranny(~1-2 seconds after in gear) jerks a bit, engine knocks until about ~2k, two of the doors creak really loud, leaks coolant, but the fact is, I simply do not care so therefore I don’t make a big deal about it and I just drive it.
As much as you guys may think I’m Joey the scumbag scammer now, I’m not, I’m not out to get anyone. I’m not out to scam anyone. There was ZERO intentions of what you guys are calling it, “fucking him over”. For those of you who feel the need to say “it must be true, or else he would’ve ‘hopped’ on it and responded” or “Anyone else not surprised Joey hasn’t responded?”, give me a break I go to college and have class at 9am in the morning until 1030 and come home to shower and see this. Now I have to go to work, then class and then I have to help my father with some things so I will not be here to respond to those of you responding to this until late tonight.
