Honestly Crystal Reports is pretty damn nice considering other things I have had the displeasure of working with such as Qlikview fucking useless pig of a report engine.
SQL is not a answer to a full blown reporting suite now if you are savy in .net or java writing a custom framework is not a bad idea.

he had worked here for 29 years though.
i doubt we would have been at a modern rev though.
