Dad's new toy

My dad picked up a new truck yesterday and since he got sent to Louisiana for work, I get to take it to get it inspected this week; which means I just HAVE to test drive it to check through everything and make sure it all works… lol.

“When daddy is away, the son will play” lol

Damn thats a nice truck. how much did he pick it up for? I need a beefier support vehicle

$8k. Its got just over 100k on it and some rust here and there but nothing that has eaten through yet so it should be easily repairable. The interior is immaculate. The 4.11 gearing makes it a damn torque monster. 1st gear is completely useless on the road b/c by the time its going about 5mph, you have to shift. So 2nd gear starts are where its at… lol.

6speed… good deal.

no, unfortunately just a 5 speed. I wish it was 6 though.

congrats man!

GRANNY GEAR FTL.

nice pick up. Whats it get for mileage unloaded on the highway?

right now i’ve only been driving it a day but the avg. mileage is showing 14.9 on the overhead trip computer. I’m assuming thats mostly city though… but I doubt its going to make much of a difference since 70mph is pretty much topped out with the gearing. At 65 this morning, I was around 2500rpm (redlines at 3500ish) And the gearing is perfect for what he needs. The truck is going to be towing his tracksteer which is around 12k with the trailer, track-steer, claw attachment, and bucket. That is where the very short 1st gear will come in handy.

nice. I have been looking for a TD truck to just tow a car hauler (2k lbs is) and my car, mini trucks and shit (no more than 3-5K).

But I dont want a gas full sized, becasue I still need to drive something other than a BT Jetta to work and rack miles on that thing. So I want something around 16mpg+ highway.

My buddy’s 06 reg cab dually is averaging 20mpg, stock unloaded.

I want a single rear quad cab dually soooooo bad

My brother gets 22 or so with his '05 regular cab 2500 and he drives like an asshole.

see thats whats up. Man I gotta keep my eyes out for a good deal.

yes, yes he does. :lol

:huh

^ that’s what I said.

Whenever I see that style ram, I think of this:
