sad thing is, it is 26 years old and starts better than my old sho did.GM has killed every name for their cars. impala, monte, gto, camaro. The high ups at GM are fucking retarded. Why can’t they either bring back a name and make it true to what it was, or think of a new nameplate for their junk.
get in the bed of ur truck, than ur loaded with SHIT to haul!!!:tounge:

GTO used to be an upgraded lemans, so when people say ithe new one is a GP with a V8 what the fuck is the big deal. right out the box the GTO will smoke many cars on the market. I’m sooooo tired of GTO bashing when MAYBE one or two people here actually drove one. Even thou i own one how has GM killed the monte name. with exception of the 95-99 model the Monte has always been a monte, nothing spectacular but not terrible either.

I guess I just think that once a car name is retired, it shouldn’t be used again. When someone says gto I don’t want to think about a grand prix, I want to think about a musclecar.
Even worse than the gto is what gm did to the impala. a early 60’s impala with a 409 and a 4-spd is one of my favorite cars. Now when someone says impala, all I think about is a fwd POS that competes with a taurus in sales.
The newer monte’s are just plain ugly.
you guys make fun of ricers, but defend this rice bullshit to the death???
they are stickers…

every one is so quick to rip into the impala SS now but when they brought it back in 94 it was all good. forget about late 70’s impala’s, they were still in the first run of the name and ran their course. They are running out of good car names, they gotta recycle them. Same thing with Cutlass supreme, they kept running the name through the change of models, there’s nothig you can do about it. They had the nerve to put GS on regals in the 90’s. A name is just a name, i don’t see the big deal. just because a new car is names something it doesn’t take away from what the old model is. The funny thing about the new GTO is it will destroy the old one is just about every aspect.

and by the way since when did a grand prix become such a bad thing, they are pretty popular and they aren’t a bad looking car so who cares if the GTO looks like it.

Personally, I think they look like ass. I don’t like a lot of the new cars out right now. While at the new car show, I could count on 1 hand the amount of new cars that were even remotely good looking.
GM has tons of money and tons of people working for them and they can’t come up with new car names.
Name reconition is a very big part of the auto world. A name is not just a name.

The 94-96 impala was a lot different than the fwd car that is out right now.
And I hope the new gto will destroy the old one.
i saw a silver one today at work , some customer had it…

yeah but atleast if they resurected the cavalier name it couldn’t get any worse.
the new monte carlo is ten times uglier than the last 2-door Lumina looking one. that one had a little more class.

But seriously Name reconition is a major aspect in the auto world. If they put out a product that doesn;t live up to the name it destroys the whole “aura” that came with it originally so to speak.
PS Cutty
