Not trying to be an ass but it was just a question, no one likes giving simple answers they just want to tell you something else that has nothing to do with what your asking.

Then the next 10 posts are me getting slammed for asking about deck hockey and not being able to skate. Productive.

How could it make us “gay”… were playing the same game you are just in shoes? I am just not as skilled on ice as those of you who have been playing since you were 6-7yo and I have no interest in learning at 23yo, nor buying a pair of ice skates?

I wouldnt say its “gay”. Calling a sport gay doesnt even make sense… unless its soccer because well, soccer’s gay.
but there is a whole list of frustrations that deter a lot of ice hockey people from playing. i think i listed them in the last roller vs. ice hockey thread that turned into 9 pages of crying…
but like you said, its a lot easier (financially or whatever else) to play dek and therefore a lot more people do. for some reason people that are new to hockey feel the need to swing the stick around like its a baton or something and i really dont have the desire for broken wrists or teeth so i will just stick to playing ice hockey with those that know what the hell theyre doing.
also, IT IS TOO DAMN HOT outside to be running around like a damn fool chasing a ball around in circles.
i played a lot of dek hockey growing up and youre right, its basically the same as ice(much more than roller IMO). its a great place to learn all the fundamentals, possitioning, blablabla…

Great. In that case, my dad, and the goalie for one of my adult league teams are both on deck teams that could probably use guys… both play at dekstar off of 279 north though.
If your interested let me know i can get you in touch with them. ( you would have to be 26+ to play for my dad’s team though)

x2 to it being a fun cheap way to get into hockey.

x029378575 on people who don’t know what they hell they’re doing play Dek hockey. I can’t count how many times I’ve gotten hacked, a high stick, random elbows, tripped, cheap shots etc etc.

x50 billion about it being too hot to be running around.

I really like playing roller when I get the chance and it’s not so damn hot, but ultimately I’d like to start playing ice, just about buying the gear.

lucky me Im 26. Yes I can play and yes Im very interested, I want to start playing again very soon and that is going to be a very short drive for me to play
