Dezod goes grass roots!

Dan Gardner and Jackson-Dawson Team With Scion on Grassroots Road Racing Effort Team to Put Together the First Wheel-to-Wheel Road Race Scion tC to Compete in a National Series
TORRANCE, Calif. After winning a national championship at Mid-Ohio driving for Jackson-Dawson (JD) this past September, Dan Gardner and the JD team have partnered with Scion.

The 2007 Scion tC road race car is currently in development and will be unveiled on March 17 at California Speedway. The car will compete in the National Auto Sport Associations (NASA) 2007 inaugural points race, running in Performance Touring (PT) E class, otherwise known as PTE.

The series uses the same innovative base classing and points modification rule set found in NASAs Time Trial (TT) program. The team will participate in TT events on top of their core PT series.

“Were really excited to be driving a Scion,” said Dan Gardner. “The brand lines up well with our own youthful image, not to mention the fact that we really believe in the potential of the platform. We truly appreciate Scions involvement in our program, and will do our very best to take home as many podiums as possible.”

Any new platform takes considerable development time, and the team is using the best brains in the business to help make the car turn, accelerate, and brake exceptionally. The tCs fully independent suspension and large 2.4-liter 4-cylinder should spell good things to come.

Partnership arrangements are already in place with:

" AEM/DC Sports
" Progress
" Tire Rack
" Kaminari
" Dezod Motorsports
" Nitto
" Mothers
" Harman Motive
" Americas Tire
" G-force
" Carbotech
" i-Speed/Crawford
" turn3
" Recaro
" NST
" Wild Pony Motorsports
" Royalty Auto Body

Other partner-sponsors are being secured on a regular basis. Scion has supplied the team with a vehicle and both OE and TRD parts.

JD has been a longtime Toyota partner, said Jill Lindsay, executive vice president, west coast operations, Jackson-Dawson Communications. Its a great fit for us to be involved with Toyota and Scion in a motorsports capacity as well. We look for great things to come from the program.

Congrats. A friend of Dan’s just forwarded that to me the other day and I recognized your name from here. It will be nice to see another Toyota out on the track. How are you helping out with the car and is it going to be ready for this coming race season?

grats

 congrats.

PTE should be an “interesting” class for that car.

It’s going to have more power and a shit load more torque than most of the field. But is also going to weigh 500 pounds more than the majority of the field too.

So what class point modifications is he doing to stay under 39 and still produce a competitive car?

Congrats man! That’s pretty big. Look, they listed you above Nitto

I count 11 from the pictures, and if he is using Nittos that is 5 more so that leaves him with 23 free…

[edit]

It’s the TRD that starts in PTE, so I changed the points in the posts. I was like no way can he make a competitve car and still stay in the base class.

I will speak to Dan-Don about what he wants to disclose at this time. I am not sure if he is at liberty to say just yet because of various avenues of the project and Toyota Motorsports deal with him.

 what’s up with the :snky::snky:

He has to disclose them anyways when he fills out the spec sheet for the class.

Man those rules make my head hurt… I don’t think the gutting counts unless he results in an over all lower weight and they elect the points from the materials instead of the weight…

Any vehicle that has a competition weight (with driver)* that is more than 150 pounds lighter
than the vehicle’s curb weight listing, and any vehicle that has had cutting or grinding of the
body or chassis, or removal or lightening of parts either not listed below or on the list of No-
Points Modifications, or not otherwise assessed points, is required to use the alternate method
below, based on minimum competition weight, to determine weight reduction modification
points. As well, a competitor may choose to use the alternate method to assess weight
modification points at any time:

^^FYI-----My favorite icon BTW-LOL

Well, he is not ready to release the spec sheet and won’t let too many know what he is planning until that day. I know some of what he has planned that we are involved in, but not all of it. :smash2:

Don is releasing his SPEC sheet this week according to our weekend convo. So, I will post it once he does for those interested.

Moved to motorsports.

So they are basically competing in NASA’s version of Time Attack?

So they are basically competing in NASA’s version of Time Attack?

The team will participate in TT events on top of their core PT series.
NASA’s Performance Touring =/ SCCA’s Improved Touring

In PT you start in a base class (for the Scion TC it is PTF) then each mod carries a point value. Points add up, every 20 points increases a class. So to compete in PTE he can add 39 points of mods to a base class of PTF.

He said Time Trial, I thought time trial = time attack/SOLO I type stuff  or does TT not mean Time Trial?
The team will participate in TT events on top of their core PT series.
Meaning that the are going to Performance Touring and then on top of/in conjunction with/along side of the schedule for PT the are also going to do Time Trial events
So they are basically competing in NASA’s version of Time Attack?
So, no, they are basically competing in NASA’s version of Improved Touring. (primary goal)

When time allows they will do Time Trials. (secondary goal)

Ah. I can see clearly now.
