I’m all for enlightenment, hook us up. I have family & friends in DHS, Customs, State Troopers and Border Patrol…only a few share your attitude on the growing domestic militia and Big Brother.
Maybe snowracer is drinking the Kool Aid?
It’s funny that I posted the actual court case and the outcome and people still argue lol
It’s a conspiracy!
The truth is hard to swallow sometimes.
Still waiting…
And people DHS employees reply be sure the read the actual case information lol
one of the guys on the MR2 forum is in that video. he handled it pretty well.
I really hate the people in those videos…I get the whole rights thing, but I swear these people just drive around to these checkpoints to recite the Constitution.
It depends for me…
If you are crossing a border Like coming into Buffalo from Canada I think you should co-operate. If this is inside the US, down south near the border where they have random checkpoints all over the place (from what I’ve heard) I could see why people might not be eager to co-operate. Still it’s ironic to me, the way people are bitching about illegals taking their jobs but failing to back the system put in place to catch the illegals. I also think it’s stupid to be pushing buttons like this, as if you won’t make your way onto some kind of list. LOL
I just love how it’s the same people who want all the illegals deported who drive around harassing boarder patrol.
I agree about an actual cross border stop. To me it’s a fundamental abuse of power. I like the fact that the video shows that ultimately they are powerless. Their power comes from what we grant them.
CONSEQUENCES WILL NEVER BE THE SAME!
Not so sure this will apply in the near future. Can we aware people fast enough? Will they listen or continue to suggest we wear tin foil?
In for enlightenment still.
DHS has rated rate up their with the TSA on my lick-my-nuts-o-meter ever since they made me and my pregnant wife stand out in the cold in the middle of winter on our way home from a trip to ikea while they randomly lined up 10 cars to sweep for radiation. I feel safer knowing that people are getting randomly harassed at the borders by mindless drones “just following procedures.” I don’t know which non-autonomous drones are scarier: the ones in the air or the ones detaining kids in wheelchairs.
I was pretty annoyed when I was made to do the same while it was snowing and shitty out. They should built a shelter or something because when the elements are shitty it’s not pleasant out there.
well I’ll just hit a few points…
when you are applying for admission into the US from another country (US citizen or not) your person and all your property is subject to search. This is a known fact. If you don’t like it, don’t leave the country. This has been the standard for YEARS.
AS far as 100 miles from a border, the US Border Patrol has checkpoints set up 10-50 miles from the border in attempt to prevent smuggling of people and narcotics. These are set up on major routes leave the border area…
SURPRISE! smugglers don’t use a port of entry to enter the United States…they walk around, anywheres from 2-20 miles, and then get in a vehicle, or load the vehicle with narcotics and take it north bound (which is where the checkpoints come in handy)
The videos posted above are retarded… people that do that shit have no lives. I can’t tell you HOW many 18-24 year old caucasian male/females with no prior criminal history have been popped for smuggling.
Does the DHS make mistakes? Sure, just like every other law enforcement agency in the world…it would be very easy if all the bad guys wore a sign on their forehead that said “bad guy”
If you are traveling near the border, and an agent has REASONABLE SUSPICION (READ: NOT NO SUSPICION) that you are in violation of a federal law, (smuggling aliens or drugs) which, in southern Arizona,Texas etc, is quite a common occurrence… you CAN be stopped and investigated.
This is the exact same as you driving through the west side of Buffalo at 2am in a KNOWN drug/crime area…a Buffalo city cop can stop you, and conduct a short investigation based on his suspicion that you are/were doing something illegal (buying crack from the dealer on the corner)
In my personal experience, we have NEVER searched someones electronic devices for NO REASON at all…the only time we’ve done this, is when we’ve caught a drug/human smuggler… we obtained a search warrant to look through his cell phone, and call records (after he was arrested)
don’t believe everything you read…no gov’t official is going to search through your computer, ESPECIALLY in the continental United States… now, again, crossing the border, you and your property are subject to search… but that is completely different than being IN the US.
the DHS, and it’s agencies are actually extremely handcuffed with policies etc.
Thank you for the perspective.
I guess what I’m trying to say…is 99.99% of DHS (the big bad wolf) employees are not “out to get” the average citizen, NOR are we trying to stomp on peoples constitutional rights…
Sounds like we need to drop the stupid fucking drug war and recognize that subjecting American citizens to universal searches for returning to their own country flies in the face of the 4th ammendment.
Here’s a really interesting legal analysis on the subject:

If you aren’t disturbed by the fact that the supreme court has recognized “specifically established exceptions” to an ammendment in the bill of rights then we’re talking on totally different fields of play.

I’ll give you that. Other than being annoyed by the occassional mindless following of procedure, I’ve never had a run-in with a border agent who wasn’t professional and trying to do their best in a job that requires a lot of care. You tend to get what you give to them. If you treat them poorly you’ll get treated poorly in return.
For that matter or cop, or TSA agent, or… I don’t know if it’s just a good recruiting process or what, but most LEO seem to be pretty good people. It’s just the occassional bad egg who gets all the headlines.
It’s always the bad egg that spoils the bunch.
