Discuss: Winter Tires, anyone?

hakka > *

I love my Hakkapeliitta’s.

(spelling?)

Spoken like a true front wheel driver.

Front wheel drive is awsome in winter…it is all i have ever had. Personally I like the Winterforce, but then again it is the only tire I have used that was a designated “winter” tire. Before that I had Goodyear Tripple Treads. They were actually pretty decent.

i think im going with whatever cheapest…but works…lol

can’t wait for ski…skiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii…ski time…hm…

Blah…I actually prefer RWD or AWD in the snow.

Where can you get Nokian tires and it sounds like they are expensive?

only about a bit over a month before the snows and steelies have to go back on :frowning:

where did the summer go?

RWD>FWD.
Just get decent snows and throw some weight in the trunk.
The car companies have convinced people that fwd is better becuase it is cheaper to produce.
fwd is the worst in any situation including snow because you can’t steer and accelerate at the same time.
It just sucks, admit it people.

fuck these guys and their 100+ dollar snow tires…

Go to dunn, say… “I want the cheapest snow tire you got” … they will give you a set of what look like mudding tires, for 85$ a pop… probably be cheaper if you got < 16" rim.

Had em on my car, made it through the blizzard awhile back… I was driving down the street… snow comming up over my hood… drove em on the street for 2 years… look like the day I bought em… best tire purchase ever.

winterforce tires are awsome i used um last year… oh yea its also made by bridgestone who happens to make the all mighty blizaks!

I used winterforce last year. Never got stuck but they didnt seem to have the grip I expected. They are a good snow tire but im probably going to try a different kind this year.

I had my car, FWD, then i had to take my dads truck to court because I had to replace my starter…omfg. It was all over, the stering sucked, granted it didnt have great tires, but it did have weight in it. I hated it.

^ Yeah, 2wd trucks are the WORST in snow unless you have good tires and enough weight.

I can’t believe (especially on a car forum) when someone says, "Get the cheapest tire possible:.
That just blows my mind.
Summer or winter the only thing holding you to the road is those four little patches of rubber.
Why in gods name do people spend thousands of dollars on their car and then go out and buy Kumhos or some other shit tire?!?
Summer or snow your tires are the most important thing on your car!!!
I laugh at people that buy coil over suspensions, etc and then buy cheap ass mother fucking tires.

Does a parachuter buy the best helmet and the cheapest parachute?
It makes no fucking sense to me.
End of rant.

anyone see the news lastnite… EL Nino burittos for all. Warm winter Tdown.

For the first time ever I hope we have a mild winter because I am building a house.

I think Blizzaks are overrated for their price. The Kumho KW11 is equally as good I find and significantly cheaper.

-and a low profile snow tire is not a good idea.

hm, winterforce is the cheapest one in tirerack…it’s $57 a piece…

how much for the kumho KW11?

Ok, dumb question, but when you guys are looking at winter tires, do you consider hydroplane resistance from when they salt the roads and they are wet?
