Josh, not sure if you saw this on my facebook page but i went for a true Japanese A5 Kobe beef steak in Vegas a couple weeks ago. I’ve been on a mega steak kick for a while now… i had it 3 NY strips in 4 days at The Palms in the forum shops at CP, N9NE at The Palm hotel and the Kobe at Stripsteak in the Mandalay Bay.
Of course i made them prove it:

it was definately NOT worth it… my meal alone was $275 and all i had was the steak, some asparaus and water…lol
but my colleagues also had steaks and we tried each back to back for comparison. It was good for sure but not the best steak i have ever had… top 20 sure, but not top 5.
Again, i’m totally down for the steak meat meet…lol… i know TPGSR is down too.

I had seared Kobe Steak before and thought it was excellent. But it was not $275 and not in vegas.

In for a meat meet, and Jeff you need to get some cowboy steaks, dry rub them with some cajun and smoke the shit out of them in a cold smoke. Let it rest for a few hours, then grill that bitch up. Best steak I have ever made/eaten.
so what do you want to do? pool some cash? age a hunk? then mike… you can cook it up? We could plan it out that we each get 3 or 4 cuts and have 3 or 4 meets to get together and do manly things before eating them.

i have no issue with $12 a cut like you had on your test run. mark me down for a half dozen…lol… some to take back home with me.
we should get started though because if we get into late january with this my wife is going to be mega-pregnant and may not be up for the travel
i still love this thread, i still prefer tenderloins over any other cut of meat though, i bought about 20lbs of porterhouse from a friend (works at slaughterhouse) and they just werent as good as i had thought
