Dodge Viper ACR.... THE RING

idk about you guys, but I think its bullshit that different drivers are used for each car… no two drivers are alike…
I think that is the biggest variable, rather than the tires

But all I am trying to say is that if I were to go buy both cars from a stealership, the dodge would be faster out of the box. Yes I could go buy tires for the vette, lose my back seat or some other excuse and perhaps outrun the Viper, but that isn’t what is being compared here.

that’s true but stil, in the end:

but, but, but…

No excuses are needed, it is faster.
I will be interested to see if GM makes r-comps an option next year so they can shave some time off their lap time.

Interesting article about the ACR’s downforce
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Features/articleId=129907

The Vid?

Knowing that the standard Viper has a top speed of just over 200 mph, the ACR’s struggle to top 165 mph makes it obvious that the big rear wing and front dive planes that are designed to plant it to the track in the turns are taking their toll on straight-line speed.

neat

Don’t forget, the Viper is running a splitter that’s not allowed on the street. Not too sure how much more downforce that produces. Guess they are afraid if they hit someone, they’ll cut their feet off. I hate when that happens.

I think its because of the 5mph bumper laws.

:meh2:

sorry had to be that guy

+1 to different drivers = different results. Put both cars on race rubber, same driver, im willing to bet the vette will come out on top.

LOL, the car at the ring has a radio. You have to PURPOSELY order the ACR with the hardcore package- it normally comes with all of those items, and the car tested DID NOT have that delete list.

No it didn’t according to the article

"According to the unofficial information provided by Motortrend, with the exception of the Racetech seat with a six-point harness, the ACRs (Dodge brought two vehicles to the ‘Ring) were factory stock and fitted with the no-cost option Hard Core package that sheds another 40 pounds with the elimination of the audio system, trunk carpet, rear cabin sound insulation, tire inflator kit, hood insulator, and steel battery cover. "

who cares the Viper is hot and it whooped ass. thats like me complaining i lost to a gt500…off the bottle of course.

viper is nasty looking

HAHAHA I got negged for saying I want a Viper.

meh, exterior is sexy. interior leaves much to be desired. Wtf is with that bouncy retro 80’s shifter?

Hire a skinny driver, far more hardcore, they will probably even wear girl jeans :cough:newman:cough:

On the other hand, why is everyone saying “waaa, they ran on R-comps”. Why don’t the other competitors do the same if it is that simple to shave 30 seconds off your time?

I love that people are comparing ring times to their local autocross…

I was just comparing the grip increase of r-comps captain douchenozzle.

you’re still a tool, dan. doesn’t matter what a viper can do - you’re still a tool

OMG, THE CAR I LIKE THE MOST BEAT THE CAR YOU LIKE THE MOST AT THE NURBERGRING!!! HAHA YOU FUCKING LOSER!!! WHO THE HELL WOULD LIKE THE GT-R AFTER IT GOT BEAT BY A VIPER???
