im in search of some “live” sand from an established tank to seed my soon to be nano marine tank
Jimmy
come see me …I have more marine than a lot pittsburgh combined How big is your tank? I got some nice established reef sugar size aragonite you can get if you swing by. I can get you anything you want actually cheap…I got live rock for $4 /lb. Where you located?
I got a nice metal halide pendant for a nano for $100 if you want it…coralife 10000K
that was insanely fast response time.
im in imperial which is kinda by the mall at robinson.
anyway im going to set up a 10 gallon nano reef. i dont have room for much bigger in my house since i already have a 90 gallon freshwater tank.
im really interested to see what you have because none of my plans are really set in stone. if i can find a cheap larger tank i want it, something like 20-30 gallon.

after some more research in the next couple days, i was going to make some salt water and get it circulating in my tank. so the search for substrate and live rock is on
hope your not using tap water to make your salt mix…def. go w/ reverse osmosis water w/ a good synthetic salt, combined w/ B-Ionic 2 part, and kent essential elements
im not going to use tap water. i planned on using distilled with reef crystals or instant ocean for my SW mix. in my opinion it wouldnt be very cost effective to buy my own RO unit at first. i dont plan on a bigger marine tank for atleast a few years though.
i havent looked into other water additives yet but you just gave me a place to start.
my tenative plan for the tank is a three striped damselfish being the only fish since my tank is small. id like to keep a good amount inverts, coral and other living things.
what type of live rock and substrate do you recommend because the choices are overwhelming me?
i guess im really just looking for someone with lots of experience to sponge knowledge off of
ohhh ya where are you located?
Jimmy
lol…some things you got right, some things you got wrong…we need to talk if you don’t want to waste a lot of money…pm me for contact info. Don’t use distilled water, you need to atleast buy Polar that says “filtered by reverse osmosis” on the gallon jug. Its not one micron R/o, but its still ok, but not the best. I got R/O water at the store if you need it…bring a bucket or two. TTYL
your PM box is full
what store are you refering to?
Aquaworld PSC…mail cleared…
where is it located?
hey
im sellin a complete reef

by the way if you are just getting started in salt, nano is not a good idea, the bigger the better, nanos are extreamely hard to stay stable, and way more maitance than a larger tank, make sure you have deep pokets also, salt is pricey good luck
i know that with any fish tank bigger is better but something larger than a 10 or 20 gallon salt tank isnt possible. i already have a 90g freshwater tank in my living room and not much room for anything else.
i understand what im taking on and the risks but i have the patience and will to do this tank right. i learned my lessons with fish keeping in the past and know what not to do. thank you for the advice, i appreciate it
Jimmy
good luck, and have fun with the tank
Everything just said in the above^^^^^ delete from your memory
you dont think nanos are diffacult
nm like you know anything bout a stable tank, ive seen the ones you maitain
