Someone who isn’t freakishly tall.
Since the year after I got my license I started doing that. Ever since I have not understood why people cant do it this way. I tell them to try it and they instantly go back.
I just lean over to look and find the curb when parking against it. I like making sure I dont curb my rims.
Like some said, most luxury cars / trucks do this. It can be enabled & disabled depending on your preference.
My car has mirrors???
I learned this in a driving class to drop points on a ticket. I do it in both my DD and weekend car. Takes a bit to get used to, but it works great as far as eliminating blind spots.
I need to see the sides of my truck so I know if people I’ve run over are still clinging to the sides or rear. Let’s me know if I have to shake them loose.
Boom headshot

As usual, everyone on NYSpeed knew about it before it was cool.

This.
My car adjusts the mirrors to the preset drivers settings. So I have driver one on normal mirror ride height and then driver 2 for reverse. I have the seats in indentical positions so only the mirrors move.
Maybe you can use this trick.
I read this yesterday and i change to it and i like it alot better
I could easily live without my side view mirrors. They are nice to have as a reference, but I never trust them to change lanes. That probably has a lot more to do with not trusting any objects that appear in them.
I set my mirrors to see as little of the car as I can so I know where curbs and stuff are when parking.
I never gave it much thought but after seeing this , I tried it out and its pretty handy it just takes a bit of time to get accustomed to
same thing here, i used to adjust them to barely see my car. now i adjust them further out
Always done it this way; it’s essentially a requirement in a 4th gen F-body as there’s no other way to see in the “blind” spot as the massive B-Pillar is right there; even if you turn your head, you’re just looking at the inside of the car (at least I was).
I have mine like figure 2 and figure 4. I look over my shoulders before changing lanes though.
I’m happy to see that at least a couple people got something out of this and it wasn’t a COMPLETE waste of time. LOL
Thanks for admitting it and not being part of the NYSpeed “I knew about it before it was cool” club.
+1 for never hearing about this before. I’m trying it but I always back into parking spots and use my mirrors for reference, this makes it much harder
Will try.

Does anyone else drive like this:
What I do is get in the car and tilt the seat way back. So far that I can barely see over the wheel. Sometimes when I look to the sides I’m actually looking out the rear side window. Then I know I’m in the zone.
I’ve found that I can usually drive better with my stereo turned really high up and the window open, even when it’s cold.
