Dog crew: Camp Bow Wow

Yep, gay name. Cool kennel. I’m taking a vacation soon and asked my vet for some recommendations for a kennel because I’m not too impressed with the one on Grand Island that I’ve been using.

One of the ones she recommended was “Camp Bow Wow.” I like it because the dogs sleep in their own kennels at night, but play together in a pack all day ala Cesar Milan.

Before you can drop your dogs off they have to go there for a free trial day to make sure that the will get along with the other dogs. My dogs are there now, getting more much needed socialization than they’ve gotten in years. What a great setup for the dogs. A lot of people take their dogs there during the day as a day-care type of thing if they work long hours.

Yes they have webcams set up so that you can watch your dogs. :yuppie: My shelter dog apparently still has abandonment issues because she’s been pouting in the corner all morning. The maltese is playing in the middle of the pack.

It’s on Grand Island Blvd in Tonawanda right next to the 190. I didn’t realize that there was a place like this for dogs in the area so I thought I’d pass it along.

when will they have this for kids?

Daycare? :poke: Doodlebugs even has webcams.

but they dont sleep there

Thats pretty cool actually.

We just drop off our runt of a lab with a friend.

Edit: Lets hope the speed does not catch your dogs engaged in
illicit activity.

The “on location” guy from channel 2 news was there one morning. Looked like the place to be for dogs.

Fry, how about this one?

I helped my friend drop his dog when he was away.

Good to know. Usually the brother inlaw just stays over at our house while we’re gone but if our vacations ever line up with his that would be a good option. I’d rather just pay to replace all the food he eats than pay what I’m sure is a pretty hefty doggy daycare bill though.

just curious, what kennel did you use before? my gf works at Harris Hill Animal Hospital and I know they have a location on Grand Island too so I’m wondering if it’s the same owner.

For my two dogs for 8 nights it’ll be $44/night. About the same as any kennel. Gotta pay to play. :tspry:

Amherst Boarding Kennel is another one that my vet recommended. Looks good.

Fry, how much does it cost? Usually those higher end places are like 40-50 for the night and day

edit: I am too late, but had a good guess.

Umm, lemme look it up. The only “bad” experience I had was my dog wasn’t eating one time (see: separation anxiety) so they put something new in her food to entice her rather than just wait her out, then she got sick so they gave her medicine. They should have just waited her out. No such thing as an anorexic dog. So, not that bad but just not as nice as this camp thing.

Heatherstone, that’s the name of the place.

Yep, for 8 nights it’ll be $22/dog.

just drown em in a bathtub!

22/dog is CHEAP

I can’t even get a standard kennel for that price

Yeah I’m pretty sure I was paying more for that at Heatherstone where the dogs just get a little 6’ run to go in/out of all day.

yeah. I left my dog in an outdoor run place for a few days one time. He came back bleeding from the elbows.

If I do that again, I’ll be bringing him a blanket or else he’s not staying there at all. That was almost a year ago and the hair STILL hasn’t fully grown back.

You’ve got a high energy dog? I’ve heard that it’s not uncommon for some dogs to get so wrestless that they wind up getting hurt like that from trying to like dig out or something. My Maltese doesn’t give a shit and my mix just sits around feeling sorry for herself.

I’m starting to wonder if the binlaw eats more than $22/day in food from my house when he watches Max for us. heh
