and i get to the back and pull everything apart and i cant clamp the piston for the caliper in because its like a turn style thing “X” (left rear, havent tried right rear yet)
i tried channel locks and a screw driver, and got it down most of the way, but i cant get it all the way in to clear the rotor
is there some type of “special tool” to get it in all of the way?
then it started fucking pooring rain and hurricane winds came out of no where :jays:
Sometimes if you can push in on the piston while turning it, it will go in farther. Be careful not to rip the boot for the piston.
extra: i recall the piston on those having groves (u’s) and a pin on the back of the pad, the pin on the pad has to fit into the grove in the caliper piston.
I had the snap on professional kit (before it got snagged) paid like $300 for it. I happen to be walking through harbour freight and saw they had a copy of the kit for like $37.00. Might be worth buying to you
When I had to rotate my GSR brakes on the civic, I went to autozone…spent $2 on that little block and it made my life about 3,000 times more easy.
The large square openings on each side of the block fits a 3/4" socket end/extention. You use the opposite side that matches up with the piston grooves. Turn and enjoy, all the while applying pressure. Works like a charm.
The rental kit is 100 times easier then the square. I have the mac set and have only foundone caliper that would not turn back. It applys pressure from a bolt as you turn it.
i made my own tool using an old socket and welded a piece of scrap metal to it so that i can use a ratchet, although that little square is like 10 bucks and can be found at most places that sell automotive tools
