dumb question resetting oil life monitor on m3

my buddy just got a m3 95, with no manual and has no idea how to reset the oil life monitor. thanks

Also ask him how to blow up an M engine in a matter of seconds.

I was in the same boat trying to figure this out.

Tell him not to even bother trying. With the e30’s you could use a paperclip as a jumper and trigger it to reset, on the M3 you need the tool to reset it.

Jason @ BlackForest can do it. Have him call them.

you either need a special computer toy thing that they sell for like $100, or you can take a wire and connect two points…

this is covered all over the place on every bmw forum that exists.

Mines been on for 3 years now. It’s not like the E30 where it stays lit the whole time. It shuts off right after you start the car on the E36, so who cares.

Pretty sure this stopped working after the e30 when I was doing my research on how to reset mine everywhere said the pin jump method was only e30 capable.

Hmmm i need to do this on my e39. I also need to figure out how to re-sync the key fob deal too. It stopped working when i changed the battery in the car. Silly BMW’s
