lol thread is amazing, i am no tech so i wont give any advice, the best thing i would say tho is take it to Nissan and get smmurf6x6 and NISTEC_DrIftR to get things working properly. Fuck, in your case you can probably spend less on another dohc ka or sohc ka and cut your loss with this motor lol.

All I have to say is I have been a certified drive clean tech for 5 years now and I would never start there for if the HC, CO are that out to lunch.
The very first thing I would do is pay the $189, get the drive clean diag… or get it to someone that you know has a gas analyzer (drive clean machine or other) drill a hole and get a the pre-cat and post-cat and compare them using the converter efficiency formula, to find the converter effiency. Not saying that it is 100% for sure a cat causing the problem, but it is the only way to be 100% sure that the cat is working or not.
Then move on from there. You have to rule out the things that are common and easy to check first then move on to other theorys. otherwise just throwing parts at your car wont do anything but empty your wallet faster.
