^^ thats pretty cool if you ask me.

siqq!

let me know when you’re ready to sell it to me!!!

what’s “fully open” look like? Just front totally exposed?

Yeah, you can either fully expose the front, fully expose the rear, or have it midway, or lower the rear and tilt the rear of the front up.

yeah i think i saw you guys towing it back to rochester

Had jay move this for me so I could just pollute this thread with progress.

Been working on it as much as I can in my spare time. Going to pull the drivetrain apart in a week or so for the manual swap and the LSD diff. I’m out of town Monday-Friday and then starting moving into my new place, so things are a bit hectic around here (on top of trying to get the track car finished, and getting the touring done). All the suspension stuff is in, Bilsteins, Vogtlands, all new bearings/hubs, all new rotors all the way around, thrust arms, control arms, tie rods, sway bar drop links, etc. etc.

Unfortunately I dont have my DSLR currently (should be back next week) so I havent taken very many pics. None the less figured I’d share with you what I have so far. The interior is in a state of shambles, but that’s what happens when you start swapping in a mostly black interior to be later accented with Modena seats and door inserts. Also took care of a ton of electrical glitches, and have nearly every warning fixed. Rewired all the coolant and oil sensors, and did a few other general maitenance bits. I’m Hoping my smilies and HID’s show up soon so I can wire them up. I also had the double sunroof working momentarily (did all the positions, closed it, and suddenly it doesnt work quite right anymore) so I have some more tinkering to do with that. Anyway, enough talk, here’s a 3 pics for you guys.

you are a madman. but i think its awesome

Sooo want this when you sell it

haha get in line

 Atleast I shouldnt have trouble selling it.

Worked on it on and off lately when I’ve had time. Working 10-12 hour days in Syracuse and moving between Rochester and Buffalo, while trying to finish 3 cars is really taking it’s toll on me.

Granted, as Xander put, if I stopped buying the damn things maybe I’d finish one :2fingers: :cjerk:

Oh, and the 951 should be back in my hands this weekend  But that’s been shelved and wont see the road this year.

Interior is stripped down, going to put the manual pedal stuff in this coming weekend and probably get started on the black carpet swap. Also have a set of heated, power, M3 Vaders for the car. They are dove :bloated: but will be recovered this fall.

Auto shifter out, wiring sorted, nasty carpet which is being replaced.

Euro Smilies vs '92-'93 Non Projectors (my '89 had US spec projectors which arent as good as the Smilies).

http://www.mturck.com/e34/DSCF0983.jpg
Front end all stripped down, on top of the lights I wanted to screw with some of the electrical and I had all new bodywork for the front end which was in much better condition than the stuff that was on the car. Only thing I need to get is a hood which I’ll probably grab from Willz.US when I’m there this week. I actually have another black hood but it has two decent sized dents in it so I’d rather get a non-dented one.

Back together with the new lights and blacked out Kidneys. Still waiting on the Euro bumper trim, also need to grab projector fogs and some lower grille pieces from the guys at Willz.

Everything out to the Auto trans, gonna get that out this weekend and tackle the manual swap.

That’s all for now.

How much of a PITA is the manual swap going to be?

Oh, and yes, that is a CUT exhaust you see in the last photo, I hate the BMW flanges and #1 didnt feel like fucking with them, #2 didnt feel like disconnecting the exhaust at the header to get the trans out. Soooo I sliced it and will have a vband welded in there for easy maitenance to the drivetrain.

Mike, not bad, I had a ton of parts from my Sedan (pedals/hydrolics). Then I just need a crossmember, clutch/pp/flywheel, front half of the driveshaft and a trans. Short the plug out for the starter lockout if not in park/neutral. I have a 3.65 (or 63 not exactly sure) LSD diff to go in too.

Annnd, just scored another set of M5 wheels for the rear (need 4 rear tires for my trip in July). $200 shipped, would’ve been cheaper, but I had an itchy trigger finger.

Decided to swap the pedals today, do alittle engine bay work, and fiddle with some wiring. Nothing major. Had a large issue taking the trans out the other day (not really normal for me) but I ended up with a large gash in the side of my head (under the hair, near my temple) and probably should’ve gone to the hospital. A lot of lost blood and ice later, I had stopped bleeding but was done working on the car for the night. Auto trans is still sitting up in the car awaiting the bump on my head to go down before I decided to crawl back under there. Cant wait to get into the new place with the lift (yes Joe, I’m really just using you ;))

The “bolt” that connects the steering collum with the pedal box. I ended up drilling it and using an easy out, took maybe 15 minutes.

A look from below.

Cake.

Worst part as always is all the stupid electrical connections.

http://www.mturck.com/e34/DSCF1055.jpg
Manual vs Auto. They are almost identical and I tried to see if I could just cut down the brake pedal and make a small extension bracket for the clutch brackets to bolt into (where the brake sensor mounts is SLIGHTLY different) but it would’ve taken me more time to get it made and aligned correctly than to just swap them from car to car.

3 pedals in the touring, the way it should be.

Pissing around in the engine bay for multiple reasons.

That and the rag tag piece of an airbox being two of them.

Oh, and OT, but the I brough the pcar home from the cage builders a day or two ago.

so mike whats the updated expected date that this thing will be out?

It will be leaving with me on July 4th for AKA Rally 2007. It will be with me in Buffalo when I get back. (As I’ll be completely moved in then too). And should be at NYSpeed #2 @ Dunnville too.

Put the black dash in, started working on the mess.

Engine stuff has been torn down for a variety of reasons (plugs, gaskets, intake, starter, etc)

Pulled that bitch out. I hate Automatics.

HIDDDZZZZ NUTS… Yes, high’s and lows, I am “that guy”.

In other news, UPS lost my ZF 310 M3 trans and clutch, and flywheel and pressure plate somewhere in Buffalo… Hopefully they are here soon. Hopefully the car will be back on the road this coming Sunday/Monday if all goes well.

looks nice, hope UPS finds your parts.
