I went from BPR7s to BPR8s for ethanol, I think I may give the non projected tip a try next time around.
Sparktech Coil On Plug non-CDI ignition, NGK BR8ES plug, .020 gap
Oh…I’m currently helping out with some 2-stroke/E85 testing…
Let’s just say the results in the infancy stages of testing are AMAZING.
Cool link Joe! I found this in a TSB from NGK from a few years ago:
“If your vehicle was not calibrated for a fuel blended with ethanol the following
adjustments can be done to restore the expected mileage and performance prior
to the change in the fuel type. NGK Spark Plugs Canada Limited recommends to
install a spark plug one heat rating cooler than OE to dissipate the increase in
cylinder temperature as well as adjusting the spark plug gap setting to 0.010”
smaller then the vehicle’s factory setting (Note: do not reduce gap to less than
0.035”).”
Im still using the BKR6E-11’s (still at .044 factory gap) that I used before E85 without issue, but I do have a pretty mild setup compared to most of you guys. Im also using an MSD 6A box with a Blaster coil. Maybe Ill experiment with a step colder on the next set but in a year I havent seen any indications that I need to make the change.
Was thinking about this today when I almost ran outta gas for the weedeater and found a few gallons of leftover E85 in the garage, haha. Whats the application?
Very interested in that Travis. Jetski racing could use a race gas alternative…
A race gas alternative that is far less toxic to the delicate marine environment.
My NGK TR6 looked great. Only one plug had any noticeable gap erosion over 20k miles on the NGKs. This is probably more an example of a quality plug the fuel.
We run in cesspools. :rofl
200 loves this corn sauce.
I was running TR6’s, but I switched to stock heat range (5) and experienced poor idle quality. One time I pissed on my shoes as well.
I’ve pissed on my foot. Sucks.
Fortunately, we both piss excellence so it’s not as bad as it could be.
Find me a reasonably priced 5 zylindar!
there’s one in the classifieds you moron
Overpriced hunk of SHIT.
You missed the reasonably priced part. :lol
Na, but seriously… I don’t really want a 200, probably another Coupe GT like I used to have.
LOL I totally missed it due to the misspelling of Coupe.
Emailing now.
you couldn’t handle a 200
Word. I have no experience piloting an 11 second boat. Oh wait…
Even though I know it’s not a big deal, I’m cannot disclose the details of the 2 stroke application. What I can say is that there was an initial power gain of 3 percent OVER VP race fuel, and even more impressive, the powerband was widened by a significant margin.
Can you point me in the right direction…? Oil ratio, go up approx 30% in jet size, anything? Lolol. I won’t tell.
