LOL thats so true
Meh, 1st gens suck. j/k
67-69 are worth the most.
79 Camaro was the highest production Camaro for a year, EVER. So they are out there. They are worth some $ but not a ton.
70-73 have been climbing.
There are a ton of places that sell Fbody parts. You can build a car from scratch.
Classic Industries, Year One, Chevy World, Rick’s First Gen are just a few.
thats a formula, most were formula 400’s But 71-72 they made some 455HO powerd ones. Very bad ass, round port heads, bigger cam, alum intake, 800cfm QJet. Good exhust manifolds like a short header.
You can DD one for sure. If you don’t mind gas prices too much, I wouldn’t expect more then maybe 12 mpg out of a carbed v8.
It would be awesome though to buy one and swap in say a 4.8/5.3 GM truck engine with a 6 speed auto tranny. I bet you could net closer to 20mpg and have a ~350 hp classic car.
As you can tell they are still pretty cheap cars, as far as price goes. I’d say buy one!
OMG a skybird! Someone buy this thing!
HMMM notice how not one Mustang owner jumped in this thread to talk about their car, motor, etc?
Good!
True!
Though I do have a soft spot in my heart for notches!
I always wanted an old car with a new drive train (year wise not condition).
My vote is for a 70 my fave, i also have a soft spot in my heart for the iroc years.
I plan on buying another iroc this summer for a daily driver.
Ya Irocs look nice too when done right.
Hot as shit. Love the lines and the color of it. Swap in a K20a and maybe some nice Volks and you got a damn nice car.
I think im happy i dont know what a K20A is.
it sucks, I do
don’t forget ITB, and strech dem tirz
i’m hoping that is a joke.
Yeah, first gens are a bad investment:lol::lol::lol:
DIAF
I used to own a '71 TA. It was originally an Esprit that was cloned into a TA. I know a lot more about 2nd gen Firebirds/TAs than Camaros but I’ll share what I can. My old car:
70-73 F-bodys are more valuable than 74+, with the exception of the '74 TA Super Duty and the '77-78 SE (Smokey & the Bandit car). I haven’t watched the market for these cars lately so I don’t know if their growth has slowed with the economy. For a while numbers matching TAs were getting high in value. Base model Firebirds are still cheap (<$5000) to come by, depending on their condition. Numbers matching 4 speed TAs go for over $30,000. TA Super Dutys are outrageous. I bought my freshly painted TA clone in 2004 for $2500 and put a motor and interior in. I sold it in 2007 for almost $7000.
Year correct parts are more expensive but most parts from late 70s cars will fit. Classic Industries and Performance Years have A LOT of repro stuff. Good Pontiac 400 motors are getting a little harder to come by for cheap but I bought a good running '69 400 engine (YC code) for $250 in 2005.
The biggest problem when finding a car is finding one that isn’t rotted (most are). Floor and trunk pans, rear frame rails, quarter panels, rear tail panels, rear window, etc are the common areas.
Yea, Pauly and I were thinking of trading ours in as a down payment on a Prius.
omg 3rd gens, stab me in the face
I didnt say they were a bad investment
I simply said 2nd gens are a good investment and IMO 1st gens have been overdone (not saying a thing about their investability)
