Wondered if anyone has ever stumbled across eccentric silicone reducers? I’m looking for something odd. Like a 4X2 or 4X2.5 (i’d need the dimension of reducer to know for sure.) I’m trying to connect my turbo to a homemade headlight ram intake box. I’ll attach a few pics so you get the idea. Any other ideas are appreciated.
my pictures got rotated counter clockwise, but I hope you understand. Second pic is showing 2" from turbo inlet to edge of box. Last pic is top of turbo inlet to top of box is 1 13/16. As you see in first pic turbo to hood clearance was an issue. Thats why I was leading towards this (but silicone)
sorry my pics are massive:fail:
If you can get that one in rubber cheap enough I’d just use that. It’s not holding any real pressure so you shouldn’t have to worry about it being silicone. If it were me I’d prolly just bump out the side and top of the airbox a little and Weld in a short section of pipe to make it between the airbox and turbo and use a straight coupler…
Thanks for the response. Finding an eccentric reducer the size and material I want is a challenge. I was considering a piece of pipe also. Just getting other ideas. Thanks again.
I would take a 4" 90 and simply notch it to fish mouth the box. then draw your line and cut the hole you need in the box. this way you can use a standard 4" adapter and youre not restricting airflow down to 2.5"
If you can get the piece you want in plastic casting it in silicone will be pretty straight forward. If I was still working at my old job in NY I could do it for you.
I know it’s not what you want to hear but that’s just poor design, I’d just scrap the box and start over. It’s easier to fuck up and redo than try to justify a design flaw. Not an attack on your fabrication skills, just a reality of design.
yes I’m going into the side/top of box depeneding what solution I come up with. I’ll try getting better pictures next time i make it out to the garage
thanks for all the responses. I agree with the start over thing but I currently quit my job to be a stay at home father. So a guy from my previous job came over to get all the measurements and built it as a favor for me. I wanted to try making it work before I ask him to re do it. One of those beggears cant be choosers things lol.
