i know all the drawbacks of getting a lightened flywheel, and the advantages. fact of the matter is it comes down to $. i can get the clutch and flywheel combo from jay for less than id pay for a new clutch by itself. i can send the clutch disc back to RPS and have the “re-skin” it and STILL be under what a new one would cost me and thats INCLUDING INSTALL. a 1000$ clutch/flywheel combo installed for less than 1/2 that… yes please.
Sounds like a good deal but you dont have to install the flywheel. I’d re-sell it but that’s me. 
Here is the actual effect of the lightweight flywheel… essentially it represents a weight reduction which is dependent on what gear you’re in. It rocks for the 1st gear rolling starts. Me, I will need to get four drag radials moving so I need momentum…

In basic motor terms, for every pound of weight you remove from the engine’s rotating assembly(balancer to pressure plate) you free up about 2.2hp to go elsewhere, but lose about 3 ftlbs of torque. As Jay mentioned, it’s all about where your motor is going to be running and making the power(RPM wise)
In practical terms…
With the lightweight flywheel it is very easy to stall the car out. It revved easier and heel-toeing rev matches was easier. The car made less boost in the lower gears, especially 1st gear where it was spooling more than 500rpms later and spooling more gradually. On the upside in the lower gears it felt like an imaginary passenger was taken out of the car. And I never had problems with misfire CELs or excessive noise. I just couldn’t launch the car for shit with it. On the street it was OK if I launched hard enough to spin all 4 thru first gear, but at the dragstrip it was a real show-stopper.
I think travis should buy my old meth injection setup and get retuned ;D
